German singer Doro Pesch, who has an expressive voice close to the operatic mezzo-soprano, in the 1990s became the queen of heavy metal through her participation in the popular group Warlock. After the collapse of the collective, the woman began a solo career, and also recorded several duets, the most powerful of which was a composition with Tarja Turunen and other musicians from Nightwish.

Dorothy Pesch, whose name was later shortened to Doro, was born on June 3, 1964 in Dusseldorf in the family of a truck driver Walter and his wife Barbara, who loved music and were fond of the works of Chuck Berry, Tina Turner and Neil Young.

Later, the girl was influenced by glam rock, learned to play the piano. In 1980, Dorothy suffered a severe form of tuberculosis, and doctors advised her to develop her lungs with vocal exercises, which grew into a serious hobby, but did not interfere with her college studies at the graphic design department.

And soon classmates invited the girl as a soloist to the Snakebite group. Other projects in which Pesch was involved in her youth were Beast and Attack, and in 1982 the Warlock team appeared.

The image of a girl with a height of 160 cm and a weight of 52 kg, who had an unusual powerful voice, immediately attracted the attention of the press, and the team became the leaders of European heavy metal, creating competition for such giants as Judas Priest and Manowar. The following records "Hellbound" and "True as Steel" brought Doro to the stage of international festivals, and she became the first woman to be announced in the line-up of the world's largest event, Monsters of Rock.

In 1989, the German members left Warlock, and Pesch had to defend her own rights to the name she had invented in court. But by the decision of the commission, the singer lost a lawsuit with an American manager and was forced to register a new individual brand.

Pesch began to pursue a solo career and in 1990 released her debut album "Doro". Unfortunately, the record did not become popular due to the waning interest in heavy metal. The singer later recorded the albums "True at Heart" and "Angels Never Die", which were a mixture of heavy, energetic songs and instrumental and vocal ballads typical of commercial rock.

However, these changes did not bring Doro back to the peak of global popularity, and she was forced to take odd jobs, sing at parties and star in the TV series Forbidden Love. Only in 2000 was the "Calling the Wild" record released.

Other works presented by Doro at the beginning of the 21st century were the albums Fight, Classic Diamonds, Warrior Soul and Raise Your Fist, which brought the singer the status of the queen of heavy music, and the concert collections In Liebe und Freundschaft, B-Sides & Rarities "and" Powerful Passionate Favorites ".

In 2016, Pesch honored the memory of the deceased Lemmy Kilmister with the release of the mini-disc "Love's Gone To Hell" and played concerts dedicated to the 30th anniversary of her creative career, where, among other things, she performed songs from Warlock's debut album "Burning The Witches".

With the advent of popularity, Doro tried to carefully protect her personal life from the interference of fans and journalists, and in an interview she said that she did not intend to have either a husband or children. She justified this position with a desire to devote herself to music and fans and backed up the song "You Are My Family", which opened the disc "Warrior Soul".

In her free time from recording and touring, Doro designed stage clothes from synthetic materials imitating leather and was involved in a non-profit organization that supports women and children in need.

Now, on vacation days, Pesch creates picturesque and graphic paintings, and is also engaged in Thai boxing, together with his friend Regina Halmich from time to time attending matches with the participation of stars.
