Biography
Dmitry Yarosh is called the leader of the Ukrainian neo-Nazis. Indeed, for several years the man headed the "Right Sector" (the organization is banned in the Russian Federation), was a people's deputy, ran for president, and then got a job in the General Staff of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And in Russia his name became known after the start of the confrontation between the participants in the Euromaidan and the law enforcement agencies, he took responsibility for the actions of the protesters on himself.
fact
Childhood and youth
Dmitry's biography began in Dneprodzerzhinsk, where he was born in the fall of 1971. A man prefers not to talk about his nationality. In addition to the fact that Yarosh's parents speak Russian, they were completely apolitical and, like many other Soviet citizens, worked at the plant, he does not tell anything else.
As a child, Yarosh was no different from his peers, attended high school, and then began working at a local metallurgical plant. This place became the only official one in his work book before parliament. Soon he was drafted into the army, served in the missile forces in Russia and Belarus.
In a short period of time between school and service, he managed to be an activist of the environmental movement, and then - a member of the Ukrainian People's Party "Rukh". Then he worked more with young people, but then went to Moscow and joined the activists in favor of the legalization of the Greek Catholic Church.
Before falling asleep to serve in the army, Dmitry dreamed of a military career, but the reality of the Soviet armed forces cooled the ardor. However, interest in military affairs did not disappear. The man realized it when he became one of the founders, and then the head of the Bandera Trident organization, banned in the Russian Federation. There he headed one of the regional divisions.
Subsequently, 20 years of his life passed there, Dmitry only periodically changed his posts. Until then, having no higher education, Yarosh graduated from the philological faculty of the Drohobych Pedagogical University at the same time as he worked in the Trident. Then he wrote a book, and then lived in Ternopil for several years. According to some reports, there he and his family were hiding from bandits after the showdown in Dneprodzerzhinsk.
Then, maintaining close relations with the former head of the SBU Valentin Nalyvaichenko, he becomes his assistant. But, working there, the man was not known to the broad masses, his "finest hour" came during the Euromaidan in 2014.
fact
"Right sector"
The organization "Right Sector", banned in the Russian Federation, emerged in the fall of 2013, it was created on the basis of "Tryzub", and therefore activists who had already attended protests in Kiev became participants. The purpose of the group was to “declare the position of the right-wing forces,” and in December of the same year its members tried to carry out their plans by seizing administrative buildings and clashing with the security forces of Ukraine.
For quite a long time the leaders of the Right Sector did not declassify their identities, but this did not prevent them from leading the process of protecting the Maidan and creating actions outside of it. Only at the beginning of the next year they declared themselves an independent social and political force and began to put forward demands.
To begin with, they created their own council, and then voiced a condition on the need for the presence of the leaders of the organization in negotiations between the opposition and representatives of the current government. Since at that time their role in protest actions and rallies was significant, the organizers of the movement wanted to participate in the political process, explaining that in this way they could quickly eliminate confrontations.
Yarosh's personal meeting with the then head of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych ended with a demand for his immediate resignation. After reviewing the Agreement on the Settlement of the Political Crisis in Ukraine, the leaders of the organization expressed their dissatisfaction with the speed and strategy of implementing reforms.
And then Yarosh insisted that the activities of the Communist Party and the Party of Regions be stopped. At the same time, a new government of Arseniy Yatsenyuk began to form, and although there Dmitry claimed to take the post of deputy prime minister for the power block, he was offered the post of secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
In mid-April 2014, Dmitry turns to the participants of the "Right Sector", whom he calls on to prepare to defend their country, so as not to repeat the events that happened earlier in Crimea. He also called on the country's law enforcement agencies not to interfere, but rather to help "restore order."
Having "obtained" weapons with the help of criminal circles, his people began military operations near Sloviansk and already at the entrance to the city killed 6 people. However, they did not manage to go further, since this was followed by a counterattack. After the unsuccessful seizure of the territory, Dmitry said that he was gathering a "special battalion" of professional fighters and activists, who, if necessary, together with the special services of Ukraine, would be present at special operations.
Not all actions of the leader of the "Right Sector" were perceived positively. Arsen Avakov, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, accused Yarosh of the death of 32 people who were in his organization, linking the tragedy with "the stupidity and carelessness of his command." But Dmitry himself periodically participated in clashes, and in one of them (for the Donetsk airport) he was even wounded.
In the fall of 2015, Dmitry announced that he was giving up the powers of the leader of the movement. Having received an earlier injury, he was forced to shift some of the responsibilities to other people. And during the next conference of the leadership, its leaders took on "illegitimate functions" (according to Yarosh) and appointed a man to the position of a conductor of the "Right Sector".
But he took off his assigned functions and immediately became the head of the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps of the group, and a month later he finally left the ranks of the organization's members. However, Yarosh did not stop there either and soon announced the formation of another political force.
fact
Political activity
For the first time, the news that Yarosh plans to nominate a candidate for the presidency of Ukraine, citizens learned in March 2014. The man said this at a press conference and said that such a decision was made by the political council of the Right Sector, according to which Dmitry could compete on an equal footing with the former parliamentary oppositionists. By the end of the month, having made an impressive deposit, he applied for registration as candidates for the presidency and passed it successfully.
During the election campaign, Yarosh focused on strengthening the Ukrainian army to suppress "aggression from Russia," and also promised to eliminate any actions and rallies of those who disagree with the work of the new government. Among his other plans were lustration of officials, revision of taxes, permission to carry weapons, and more.
Participating in political programs, the man called for the return of Crimea to Ukraine, proposed solutions (including guerrilla warfare), and also to destroy the militias in the southeastern part of Ukraine. Despite all the efforts, Dmitry won only 0.7% of the vote, after which he disappeared from the press for a while.
But soon the "Right Sector" announced that it was ready to support the elected President Petro Poroshenko in everything, who also in his speeches called for the unification and preservation of the country, and also promised to stabilize the situation in the east.
At the same time, Yarosh did not forget to periodically remind Poroshenko that he had a volunteer squad, and if the new government changes its mind to follow the intended path, then with the help of him the man is ready to "bring the revolution to the end." And a little later, Yarosh becomes a member of the Verkhovna Rada and is included in the circle of deputies who are associated with the head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional state administration Igor Kolomoisky.
fact
Criminal prosecution
In the spring of 2014, Yarosh found himself at the center of an unpleasant story. Information appeared in the press that, through his personal profile on VKontakte, Dmitry turned to international terrorist Doku Umarov with calls to fight against Russia, joining forces with the Right Sector. The Ukrainian organization denied this information, explaining that Yarosh's profile was hacked.
But the vice president of the social network said that none of the representatives of the group contacted the technical support of the service on this issue. Seeing the photo of the message, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, reacted negatively to this situation and promised "to issue a ticket to the man where no one has returned."
In March, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a case against Dmitry on charges of incitement to terrorist and extremist activities, and soon a Moscow court arrested the man in absentia. A month later, the International Criminal Police Organization put him on the wanted list, while Dmitry was not hiding.
Yarosh was in Ukraine under the protection of the Kiev bureau, which refused to extradite him. And in 2016, any information concerning it completely disappeared from the Interpol website. Now the former leader of the "Right Sector" is included in the list of Ukrainian citizens who are prohibited from entering the territory of the Russian Federation.
fact
Personal life
Not much is known about Yarosh's personal life. He met his future wife when he came from the army, at that time the girl worked as an operator at the post office. For a whole year they were just friends, sometimes they went for a walk together, and soon Dmitry realized that he had fallen in love.
Then he made Olga a marriage proposal, which she did not refuse. After the wedding, the man insisted that his wife quit her job and do the housework, which she did.
Despite being constantly busy at work, Yarosh turned out to be a loving father and, whenever possible, tried to devote as much time as possible to his family. Olga gave him three children - son Dmitry and daughters Irina and Anastasia.
fact
Dmitry Yarosh now
Now Yarosh is a non-factional deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. And although he does not participate, as before, in the life of the country, he still does not stop speaking about the return of Donbass and Crimea.
And in April 2019, during the next presidential elections, he actively supported Ruslan Koshulinsky, a nominee from a nationalist organization.
Dmitry does not maintain pages on Instagram and Twitter. And since his activities were previously recognized as extremist in Russia, the man's profile on Facebook is closed to Russian users.
