Petersburg theatergoers know Dmitry Podnozov as the founder and artist of the Osobnyak theater, and he is known to a wide audience for a number of films. The young man was admitted to the Leningrad Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography (now the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts), where he studied in the workshop of Ruben Sergeevich Agamirzyan, People's Artist of the USSR.

In 1984, Podnozov graduated from LGITMiK and went on assignment to the city of Sovetsk. However, the novice actor was unlucky: a fire broke out in the theater in which he was supposed to start work, and the work stopped for a long time. Then the young man moved to Pskov and devoted several years of his life to work in the city theater. The childhood dream of becoming an artist came true, but it was replaced by another - to create your own theater. Dmitry did not have to move long towards a new goal - in 1989 he became one of the founders of the St. Petersburg theater "Osobnyak".

Podnozov got his first role back in 1987, in the film adaptation of Sergei Vysotsky's story "Habitat". On the set, the young artist had a chance to work with the masters of Soviet cinema Nikolai Karachentsov, Petr Velyaminov, Valery Ivchenko. After his debut, Dmitry dropped out of the world of cinema for a long time, giving all his strength to the theater.

Returning to the screens took place in 2001 - Podnozov began acting in Russian TV series and films. However, the main role turned up only in 2005 - in the TV series "The Tale of Happiness" the actor appeared in the form of Major Klyuchevsky.

Disgraced by the authorities, the investigator was instructed to investigate the case of theft of dogs. Klyuchevsky, who until now specialized exclusively in financial fraud, is at first skeptical about the investigation, not yet knowing what kind of "criminal" he will face.

Dmitry's next major work was the role in the film "Seven Invisible Men" (2005) by Lithuanian director Sarunas Bartas. A film master from four countries at once - Lithuania, France, Portugal and the Netherlands - had a hand in the project. Critics hailed Bartas' film as a philosophical, existential parable, told with the directness and ruthlessness of documentary filmmaking. Podnozov appeared as the main character Vanechka, one of the seven "invisible".

In the series “Stolypin. Unlearned Lessons (2006), the actor played the role of Gleb Ivanovich Bokiya, a famous Russian revolutionary. A year later, in 2007, Dmitry tried on the image of another historical figure - Count Alexander Ivanovich Shuvalov in the television series "Pen and Sword", based on the novel of the same name by Valentin Pikul.

Another main role was played by Podnozov in the TV series "Moscow Courtyard" (2009) - he played the NKVD investigator Alexei Ivanovich Markelov. Together with him, the actors Yuri Kuznetsov, Igor Yasulovich, Roman Madyanov played in the film.

In 2010, the actor appeared in Ramil Salakhutdinov's film "Which Was Not". The psychological drama based on Elena Dolgopyat's story "The Door" caused mixed impressions among viewers and critics. The detective story, which takes place in a provincial town, was filmed back in 2015, but it cannot be said that it was released late - as critics say, "Secrets of the City of N" will rehabilitate the genre of the Russian TV series.

The actor does not devote anyone to the details of his personal life. Over the years, his wife and children have never been mentioned in the media - Podnozov does not talk about his family at all.
