Many movie lovers will recognize Dmitry Iosifov as Pinocchio from their favorite children's film. As the actor himself later recalled, the first impression of the studio was negative. The boy even lied to his grandmother, who brought him to the casting, that he had a stomach ache. The deception was a success, but after a while Dmitry was again brought to Belarusfilm and even approved for the role of Arlecchino.

The casting continued, but director Leonid Nechaev could not find the actors for the roles of Malvina and Buratino. And then Dmitry Iosifov was given the image of the main character. The actor likes to recall in interviews that the most difficult thing was to choose a “nose” of the correct length and size - the props changed all the time, tried different options.

A couple of months later, the boy impatiently asked when they would start filming. The film crew and the director burst out laughing - it turned out that the shooting had been in full swing for a long time.

So for Dmitry Iosifov a new world opened up - the world of cinema. This first picture - "The Adventures of Pinocchio" - is familiar, perhaps, to every child, and already new generations of children empathize with the restless, but sincere wooden man.

The cast of the film turned out to be truly stellar, and little Dmitry was lucky to work with Vladimir Etush, who played Karabas-Barabas, the inimitable Rolan Bykov in the form of Basilio the cat, Elena Sanaeva, who played the role of the fox Alice. Rina Zelenaya, Nikolai Grinko, Tatiana Protsenko also played in the film.

It cannot be said that the first role was given to little Dima with ease. The boy was sometimes tired and capricious, but there was always a grandmother nearby, ready to reassure her grandson, as well as the director and members of the film crew who supported Dmitry. So, gradually, an ordinary child turned into a real artist and by the end of the filming process demonstrated professionalism.

The talented boy was noticed and began to be invited to other films. So, in 1977, Dmitry Iosifov appeared in the image of the Little Wolf in the fairy tale film "About Little Red Riding Hood", and two years later he played the bully Stepan Komarov in the two-part film by Nikolai Lukyanov and Pavel Lungin "Captain Sovri-Head".

A few years later, the matured Dmitry Iosifov faced the question of choosing a future profession. At first, the young man was going to follow his father's path and submit documents to the local polytechnic. But there were several months left before the exams, and then the young man went to Moscow to try his luck at the entrance exams at VGIK.

At first, Iosifov did not impress the selection committee, but the director of "The Adventures of Buratino" Leonid Nechaev took Dmitry on bail, assuring the teaching staff that the young man would certainly reveal his talent later.

And so it happened: under the strict guidance of Alexei Batalov, who became the mentor of the group in which Iosifov studied, the novice actor became a real master of his craft. Immediately after VGIK, Dmitry became in demand, the young man was constantly invited to the shooting, offering both secondary roles and images of the main characters.

Most often at that time, the actor had to play in detective series and films. Iosifov himself considers the film by Alexander Rogozhkin "Guard" the best in his own filmography of that time. This drama, the plot of which is based on a real tragedy, did not leave the audience indifferent. Here Dmitry Iosifov played together with Alexey Poluyan, Alexey Buldakov, Taras Denisenko.

Gradually, the roles became smaller, and a new director's page was opened in the creative biography of Dmitry Iosifov. He started with commercials, gradually mastering new activities. Then he began to receive invitations to more serious projects.
