Born in Moscow in 1940 in a family of intellectuals. Father - Fyodor, an Armenian by nationality, an engineer by profession. Mother - Vera, a representative of the creative profession, a musician. Mom instilled in David a love of composing melodies and music in general - at first she studied with him herself from an early age, developed his talent, then sent him to a music school, and then to the Gnesins State Institute.

As a child, David Fedorovich was a restless child, he did not set priorities the way his teachers would like. Instead of hours of work to learn scales, he ran out into the yard to play ball with friends, rushed to catch up and tag. However, talent helped him from the very beginning - for a child who, at the age of 4, wrote the first piece for piano performance, and for two hands, it was not an insurmountable difficulty to prepare for the lesson.

David Fedorovich began his career with composing musical compositions for piano performance. Then lyric melodies and arrangements for already famous hits began to come out from under his pen. After serving in the army, he began to work in the popular genre and compose melodies for lyrics for performance on the stage.

These were extraordinary hits that were performed by the best of the best - Alexander Gradsky, Valeria, Iosif Kobzon, Oleg Mityaev, Lev Leshchenko, the Veselye Gubyat ensemble and other famous performers and groups. David Fyodorovich's path to national love began with the famous song "The Last Train", which instantly became a hit.

David Fedorovich has a cycle of patriotic songs that were highly appreciated by critics and the professional community. The pinnacle of creativity in this direction was the composition "Victory Day", which has come a long way from the composition banned on the air to the title of the country's main song on May 9. The Artistic Council did not miss the musical composition, seeing in it the features of foxtrot. But Lev Leshchenko, risking his career without the consent of the editors, sang the song at a concert dedicated to Police Day.

What makes David Tukhmanov unique is that, being a talented person with a classical education, he organically merged into the genre of popular music and became one of the main suppliers of music and songs for ordinary, inexperienced citizens.

David Tukhmanov was the first of the Soviet composers to release the disc "Following the Wave of My Memory", which was created as an album. The songs were selected in accordance with a certain concept, in the form of a suite. The hits were performed by Alexander Barykin, Alexander Lerman, Sergey Belikov, Igor Ivanov.

The composer does not depend on the genre - he is successful in writing music and songs for both children's audiences and the older generation, for performance on stage and in films. He did not abandon his knowledge of classical music either - he participated in the creation and production of the opera Tsarina, dedicated to the reign, life and image of Empress Catherine the Great.

He also had a hand in theatrical activities, writing music for stage performances and musicals. David Fedorovich paid a lot of attention to cinema, having composed more than a dozen compositions for films. Among the films in which the composer's music sounds, there are tapes "This Merry Planet", "Dear Boy", "Alien", "Doll".

Among the hits created by David Tukhmanov, popularity was gained by "La Gioconda" performed by Alexander Gradsky, "Chistye Prudy" performed by Igor Talkov. Shlyager "My Motherland" with the words "I, you, he, she - together the whole country!" became the first Soviet rap, written for Sofia Rotaru and the children's group "Fidgets".

David spent his authority in the music field on creating innovative compositions and experiments. Another example of shocking work and a sudden choice of style is his project, the Moscow group, in which he was partly a producer. In the late 90s, the famous children's poet Yuri Entin attracted David Fedorovich to the new project. Together they productively collaborated for many years, releasing songs for the performance of young talents from the ensemble "Fidget" and many others. While in Israel, David Tukhmanov continues to work only for the Russian audience and to participate in Russian projects.

In the new century, David Fedorovich moved away from the creation of pop songs, but in 2010, in honor of his anniversary, a concert was held as part of the New Wave music festival. Laima Vaikule, Nikolai Noskov, Igor Nikolaev, Grigory Leps and other pop stars performed at the creative evening.

The discography of this greatest composer of our time has hundreds of songs in different genres and on different themes, but they all have one thing in common - the genuine power of sound and sincerity with which each melody was written. David Fedorovich admits that on his creative path there were rarely moments when music was born in his head in the form of an instant revelation, a muse's whisper, which had to be immediately captured and preserved.

His creative method is deliberate work at the piano. This painstaking work and professionalism presented the audience with versatile melodies and songs that came from the author's pen. The composer is sure that the main thing in the song is not thoughtfulness, time and effort spent, the main thing is that it should sound easy, so that it carries a charge of positive emotions.

Personal life of David Tukhmanov is well known, the composer does not hide the fact that he is married for the third time. The first wife of the composer was the singer, songwriter Tatyana Sashko. According to her colleagues, artists who know her, Tatyana became the first Soviet producer. In the Soviet years, the concept of production did not exist, but it was thanks to Sashko's instinct that Tukhmanov was able to create hit after hit.

At the beginning of her married life, Tatyana managed to discern in a musician with a classical education the author of future hits. The wife took part in the selection of poetic material for her husband's works, she was looking for performers for songs. Her authorship belongs to the text of David Fedorovich's hit “These eyes are opposite”.

In 1974, their daughter Anastasia was born in marriage. The girl did not follow in the footsteps of her parents, graduated from MGIMO and chose the profession of a translator, then began working as a journalist.

In 1986, David Tukhmanov married a second time, but the marriage lasted only two years. After the divorce, the composer left at the invitation to Hamburg, and his ex-wife Natalya took advantage of the situation and installed new locks in David Fedorovich's five-room apartment on Kutuzovsky Prospekt, ordered the ex-spouse and completed the privatization. The composer had to challenge his rights in court.

In Germany, David Tukhmanov met a new love and muse, the pianist and singer Lyubov Viktorovna became her. In Western Europe, the composer began a new life. He did not hesitate to perform in restaurants, playing the piano, he made arrangements for local orchestras performing on radio and television. The composer did not perceive this period of his biography as emigration; for David Fedorovich, life in Europe became a protracted journey. According to Tukhmanov, he was interested in the experience of communicating with a foreign public, and a culture new for a Soviet citizen aroused interest.

Since the 90s, the composer has lived in three countries. He spends part of the year with his family in Israel and Germany, but does not forget to visit Russia. As the composer himself admits, he does not support communication with his first wife, songwriter Tatyana Sashko, and his daughter, but he prefers not to disclose the reasons for this decision.

Now the composer has devoted himself entirely to classical music. After the premiere of the opera Tsarina, which took place in 2010, he decided to write another opera. Tukhmanov keeps the details of creating a new work secret.
