Georgian singer, musician and composer Dato Khujadze conquered fans with his soulful songs and lyrical motives. To date, three studio albums have been released, on which the artist has combined songs in pop, soul, reggae, jazz and ethno styles. Dato Khudzhadze was born on June 25, 1975 in the city of Tbilisi. The parents instilled love for music in the future singer and composer. The boy grew up in an intelligent, creative family and was brought up on national melodies and pop songs.

Little Dato's mother went with him to all music lessons and tried to maintain her son's love for art. However, Khudzhadze's parents dreamed that their son would become a dentist, so after graduating from school he entered a medical university. In it, the young man lasted until the fourth year, after which he realized that he did not dream of a career as a physician and a white coat.

As Khudzhadze later admitted in an interview, he "rendered a service to the entire society of Georgian doctors by not becoming a dentist after all." According to Dato, while studying at the university, the guy thought only about music and together with his friends created the Flash group. The collective was very popular among Georgian youth in the early 1990s.

The real fame came to the young Dato after the formation of the Sahe group in 1997. The guys from this group were not afraid to sing openly about love and relationships, which attracted the attention of the Georgian public.

The musicians of "Sahe" gave their first concert at the Tbilisi Philharmonic. They were very much afraid that tickets for the 3000-seat hall would not be sold out. Imagine their surprise when the hall was not only full, but those who did not have time to buy tickets began to smash the building from the outside. As a result, the artists had to spend the entire fee for the performance on compensation for harm from the behavior of fans.

Against the background of such a crushing success among fans, Dato decided to start a solo career. The talented singer was quickly noticed by the producers of the "Slavianski Bazaar" competition, and in 2000 he won the Grand Prix of the festival in Kiev.

At the concert, Khudzhadze was supposed to perform two songs - in Georgian and Ukrainian. As a second option, the artist chose the work "Chernobrivtsi", which surprised the audience in the hall a lot. As Dato later said, the young man was sure that only the artist himself knew this song, but all the festival participants sang it with him.

In 2002, for the Voice of Asia competition, Khudzhadze prepared a famous song from the movie Mimino - Chito Gvrito. The singer admitted that he wanted to perform this particular piece in order to return the memory of the hit to the younger generation. The artist succeeded in this with triumph: he won the audience's sympathy for the festival, and the song began to sound from all speakers in the CIS.

In the same year, Dato released his first album, "I Want you to want this", followed by the second, "I don't want to hurt you". In the wake of his success, Khudzhadze moved to Moscow and started working with producer Gela Gogokhia. Having already enlisted the support of the Tbilisi audience, the singer said that he had reached his “ceiling” on his native stage and wanted to move forward.

Cooperation between Khudzhadze and Gogokhia turned out to be fruitful, and in 2004 the Georgian artist released his third album, "Sand dream". For the song of the same name ("Makhinji Var"), Dato has released a video with the participation of Israeli artist Ilana Yahav. The work immediately attracted attention, because the video used the technology of drawing on sand, which was unique at that time. The clip even became a member of the Cannes Lions out-of-competition program.

Over the next three years, Dato released two songs that instantly became hits - "Janaya" together with rapper Legalize and "Deja Vu". For these two works, Khudzhadze shot videos that were actively shown on the Russian popular music TV channel MTV.

After the resounding success of the late 2000s, the Georgian singer continued to write songs and tried himself in various genres, but did not dare to release a full-length album. In 2014, Khudzhadze performed Jinvela in a duet with the Russian singer Marina Devyatova.

In 2015, a big solo concert of the artist Dato.Tbilisi.Life took place at the Shota Rustaveli Theater in Tbilisi. That evening, 25 songs by Dato, loved by the audience, sounded from the stage. The money raised from ticket sales went to the Solidarity Foundation to fight childhood leukemia.

Dato's last song was released in 2016. The video for a piece called "If This Isn't Love" was filmed in Los Angeles.

Dato Khujadze's personal life is kept secret. In an interview with the Georgian edition of Ambebi.ge, the singer admitted that he had a wife, but the couple broke up in 2012. The musician has a daughter, who was born two years before he left the family. It is known that in terms of hobbies and interests, Khujadze is a versatile personality. He is fond of paragliding and also loves to ride horses. In the singer's house in Tbilisi, there are two mustangs that Dato rides on when he arrives home.

Also, the Georgian art worker loves to receive guests. His house in Georgia has two floors: on the first of them, Dato set up a recreation area and a "restaurant for his friends", where his closest people often come.

Now Dato Khudzhadze is preparing for the reunion of the Sahe boy band, which will take place on August 24, 2018 at the Black Sea Arena in Shekvetili.
