Biography
David Bowers was born in the Cheshire region of Great Britain. He took courses at the West Surrey College of Art and Design but interrupted his studies and began his career in animation, joining the team of designers on the film Who wants the skin of Roger Rabbit? (1988). The young artist proved himself during the 90s: he was in charge of animation on films such as The Four Dinosaurs and the Magic Circus (1993) or Balto chien-loup, hero des neiges (1995), and also supervises the storyboards of great animation hits such as Chicken Run (2000) or Wallace and Gromit: Mystery of the Were-Rabbit (2005).
After a stint at Steven Spielberg's Amblimation studios as well as a last participation as a designer for Gang of Sharks in 2004, David Bowers took the plunge and directed his first animated feature: Souris City (2006). He also doubles many characters in the film with Hugh Jackman or Kate Winslet. In 2009, he adapted Osamu Tezuka's manga: Astro Boy. After the very mixed success of his first two films, David Bowers left the world of animation for that of cinema in real shots, and directed the last two parts of the franchise Journal of a Deflated: Rodrick made his law (2011) and It makes you sweat! (2012).
