Biography
Daniel Barnz, born Bernstein, merges his name with that of his companion Ben Schwartz. After graduating from Yale University and California Film University, the young apprentice filmmaker directed his very first short film in 2001, entitled "The Cutting Room". He returned behind the camera seven years later, in 2008, for his first feature film, Phoebe in Wonderland, of which he was also the screenwriter, carried by the very young Elle Fanning, who suffered from Tourette syndrome.
In 2011, he completely changed his genre by staging a modern adaptation of the tale of Beauty and the Beast., Sortilège, with Alex Pettyfer and Vanessa Hudgens, which is not very successful. Always for the sake of eclecticism, Daniel Barnz returns to a more intimate cinema by offering the two first roles of Learning to Fly to Maggie Gyllenhaal and Viola Davis, for a trip in the life of two mothers who seek to develop a local school . In 2015, he returned with Cake, allowing Jennifer Aniston to appear in a poignant counter-employment role of a depressed woman.
