Courtney Love was born in San Francisco on July 9, 1964. In 1994, after a rather drastic change in the composition of the band, a new album was released - "Live Through This". The record was not as heavy as the band's first work, but rather was in the style of a more universal pop grunge. Two months after the release of the album, Kristen Pfaff, who became the band's new bass player, died of a cocaine overdose.

In 2002, Courtney Love, together with Linda Perry, released a solo album called America's Sweetheart, which received mostly negative reviews. In 2009, Courtney tried to "revive" the group "Hole", although only she remained from the original line-up.
