Childhood and adolescence

Colin Morgan was born in the Northern Irish town of Armagh on 1 January 1986 and became the 2nd child of decorator Bernard Morgan and his wife Bernadette. Following family traditions, parents raised their children in the Roman Catholic faith and forced them to attend a parochial school near home.

The boy was not afraid of the stage and at the age of 5 he made his debut in the choir in amateur productions of "Cinderella" and "Peter Pan". One of the teachers saw Colin's talent and advised him to become an actor in the future.

As a student at Dungannon Unified College in 1997, Morgan played in school plays, particularly memorable roles in the plays Surgical Sensations at St. Senapods and Bad Day at Black Frog Creek. In high school, the young man participated in the selection for Eurovision, which took place on a show called You're A Star RTE One, but did not reach the final.

The failure spurred Colin, and he took an acting course, and then enrolled in the theater department of the Institute in Belfast. After graduating from the Royal Academy in Glasgow, Morgan continued his studies at the Royal Academy in Glasgow and in his final year attracted the attention of the English director Rufus Norris, who invited a talented student to the lead role in the play Vernon God Little.

Soon Colin made his debut on the stage of professional theater in the West End and received friendly reviews from critics. This influenced the final academic scores and led to the Contribution to the Arts Award, established by the Belfast Educational Institution.

Creativity

After a promising debut, Morgan stayed in London and continued his stage career. The next performance with the participation of young talent was an adaptation of Pedro Almodovar's melodrama "All About My Mother", awarded the Audience Award Whats On Stage Awards.

In 2008, Colin played jimmy in Thomas Babe's independent play "Prayer for My Daughter" and, according to journalists, revived the image of the hero, showing a mixture of addict with an angel. Shortly thereafter, the young actor joined the Royal Court Theatre company and spent the season playing diverse characters in the works of contemporary authors.

Around the same time, Morgan appeared on television, in the Christmas special edition of the comedy "The Catherine Tate Show" and an episode of doctor who, and then got one of the main roles in the fantastic project "Merlin".

From that moment colin's biography changed dramatically: constant participation in filming took a lot of time and did not allow to work in the theater. However, the new image was liked by the actor, and he gladly transformed into a magician in the service of the future King Arthur, played by Bradley James and resisted the evil charms of Morgana, played by Katie McGrath.

Following the premiere of Merlin on 20 September 2008 on BBC One, Morgan won several acting awards, including the National Television Award for Best Male Drama and the Caron Keating Newcomer Outstanding Award for Best Debut.

In 2010, Colin came to the big movies, playing the main characters in the films "Parked" and "The Island", and then briefly returned to the theater and brilliantly played the role of Ariel's aerial spirit in Shakespeare's tragicomedy "The Tempest". The play was staged at the famous Globe in 2013, and then shown in cinemas and released on DVD. Morgan was named one of the best actors, who filled the image of the hero with "ethereal silence" and "acrobatic precision."

After enjoying live performances, Colin reappeared on television in 2014, playing an ambitious journalist in an episode of irish crime drama The Fad, based on John Banville's books.

At the end of filming, the actor was invited to play the role of a detective sergeant in the 2nd season of the series "Krach". To prepare for the job, Morgan repeatedly met and discussed the script with the show's main character Gillian Anderson and writer Allan Cubitt, as well as studied police files and watched the actions of law enforcement officials.

After that, the actor starred as the mysterious fugitive Leo in the sci-fi project "People" and appeared in the film "Legend" American director Brian Helgeland. Another morgan project was a short film, Laughing King, released in support of the charity campaign against male suicide.

In April 2016, Colin's filmography was supplemented with the film "Snow White and the Huntsman 2." In an interview with journalists, the actor admitted that he liked working with director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan and participating in such large-scale epic shootings.

In the summer of the same year, Morgan got the lead role in the sci-fi miniseries "The Living and the Dead". This time the actor appeared in the form of Nathan Appleby, a psychologist who tried to start a new life with his young wife Charlotte in an isolated corner of Victorian England and found himself in the epicenter of supernatural events. Speaking about the project, Colin noted that it was

Personal life

Colin Morgan was one of those people who was lucky enough to find a girlfriend who supports creative endeavors and inspires new projects. This girl was actress Katie McGrath, who played one of the main roles in the TV series "Merlin". The young people met on the set, and at first their relationship was purely professional. Within a year, Colin and Katie were looking at each other, and then they started to get closer.

The novel denied rumours of Morgan's unconventional orientation, which emerged after the actor was periodically met in the company of another Merlin star, Bradley James. Commenting on the speculation of journalists, Colin's friend said that the guys are good friends, and nothing intimate between them happens.

The actor himself does not cover the topic of personal life, so the real relationship with Katie remains a secret. Colleagues admit that they have a lot of work and no time for love, so the video, where McGrath and Morgan appeared together in the image of the heroes of the 20s, does not say that the case goes to the wedding.

Social media also doesn't help to understand what's going on on Morgan's romantic front. The actor does not have an Instagram page, and only professional photos are posted on his Twitter account.

Colin became a vegetarian after he became a child of lactose intolerance. Yoga classes and a healthy lifestyle allow the actor to look great and after 30 years to maintain a weight not exceeding 75 kg at the height of 183 cm.
