Clive James Standen was born on July 22, 1981. The actor's small homeland was Northern Ireland - there, at the Hollywood military base, his father served. Soon after the birth of their son, the family moved to the east coast of England, to Leicestershire. Here young Standen graduated from the King Edward VII School and entered Melton College, choosing acting as his main specialty.

Paradoxically, the novice theater-goer did not even think about the spotlight - he was much more interested in performing complex stunts. Since childhood, the young man was fond of oriental martial arts, perfectly kept in the saddle and even fenced. The training paid off. Already at the age of 12, the boy was accepted into the professional troupe of stuntmen in Nottingham, where he continued to improve his skills. And after 3 years, fifteen-year-old Clive received an offer from the National Youth Theater.

After making the fateful choice between a career as a professional stuntman and acting, Standen accepted the prestigious offer. Together with the troupe, the young actor toured the country and managed to win the audience's sympathy. Standen's stage success earned Standen a scholarship from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, which covered all of his tuition fees.

At the end of the course, the actor easily stepped from the theatrical stage to the television screens. In 2000 Standen got a role in the rating British TV series Doctors. This was followed by another TV project - "Raising the Dead", broadcast from 2001 to 2011.

Standen never suffered from a lack of roles: in 2004, he appeared in the television film Ten Days to D-Day, where he played the role of the Canadian commander. The film won an Emmy award. Critics were also supportive of the actor's next work - Clive played in the film adaptation of Tom Brown's School Years, which was released in early 2005. Continued participation in serials: in 2007 Standen starred in an episode of "Hour X". The rising star's talent even attracted the creators of the legendary Doctor Who. In 2008, fans of the cult television series appreciated Private Harris, brilliantly played by Standen.

However, the year 2009 brought the Briton really wide popularity: he got the role of Archer in the famous TV series "Robin Hood". High growth (188 cm), athletic build and excellent physical fitness largely determined the nature of future roles. "Robin Hood" was followed by Sir Gyven from the historical series "Camelot" and the warlike Hangen from the feature film "Hammer of the Gods".

Now Standen is known to the public for the television series Vikings, where he plays Rolland, the brother of the protagonist. The actor has been in the main cast since 2013 and intends to continue working. Despite the busy filming schedule, in 2015 Standen's track record was replenished with the film Everest and a cameo role in the TV series Atlantis.

In 2017, the already established actor will appear in the Franco-American television series Hostage, created by Luc Bessonne. Standen will play the main character - a young spy Brian Mills, recruited to serve in the CIA.

Little is known about the Standen family: the actor prefers to hide his personal life from the press. In 2007, Clive married a longtime acquaintance, Francesca. The couple lives in London with three children: sons Rafferty and Hayden and daughter Edie.
