Despite the reluctance of her family who tries to bring her to reason by warning her ( "Doing a job with 98% of unemployed people was close to unconsciousness" ), the young Christine Citti does not budge, she wants to become an actress. She made her debut at the age of 20, in 1982, under the leadership of Patrice Chéreau, with whom she took acting lessons for two years, at the Théâtre des Amandiers in Nanterre. There, she cut her teeth and had the chance to play alongside actresses like Juliette Binoche, or Agnès Jaoui, an experience that gave her a solid foundation.

But the beginnings are very difficult: before breaking through to the big screen, she is very present on television and accepts, to earn a living, many "supporting roles", as she likes to say with hindsight. By dint of perseverance, she became known mainly in the series, especially thanks to PJ where she played the wife of a police lieutenant. Then she plays Captain Éloïse Rome, the main role of another detective series, Les Enquêtes d'Eloïse Rome, for 24 episodes, before devoting herself almost entirely to cinema.

After having participated in many "food films", she landed a few minor roles with confirmed filmmakers, in La Galette du roi by Jean-Michel Ribes in 1985, or in It begins today by Bertrand Tavernier in 1999. She then tried his hand at directing with the film Rupture (s) in 1992 with Emmanuelle Béart, a long-time friend with whom she had already shot her first short film in 1991, Le Bateau de Lu. But it was in the mid-2000s that the actress began to make herself known to the general public by playing Madame Chatel in the popular comedy Camping, then Camping 2. A few years later, she will find the team of merry fellows formed by the dubosc / Onteniente tandem in Disco.

In 2005, Christine Citti played the main role in Suzanne by Viviane Candas, a more intimate film, more poignant than her previous appearances in more mainstream projects; then, in 2006, she starred in La Tourneuse de pages, and was featured in When I was Singer, with Gérard Depardieu and Cécile de France. 2007 is a busy year for the actress, who goes on filming in quick succession without a state of soul, and occupies a role in Le Réveillon des belles, a television fiction, returning at the same time to the small window, where she started.

But the projects come and go for the actress who always has difficulty in establishing herself in the French cinematographic landscape, undoubtedly because of her too thin silhouette. The roles offered to him are therefore limited. Relieved of several kilos, she declares, with her usual self-mockery, feeling ready to "start a career as a sex symbol"and returns to the front of the stage with the intimate drama I am happy that my mother is alive, before working under the direction of Claude Lelouch in Ces amours-là in 2010. Despite the few big productions that have marked her career, Christine Citti prefers to focus on more intimate and personal projects: she is thus on the bill of Tue-moi in 2012, a drama evoking the complex and unexpected relationships between a suicidal teenager and a prisoner on the run.

Even if her cinematographic career is going well and that the precariousness of yesteryear has given way to a nice prize list, the actress does not forget her first loves and continues to play regularly in the theater, a path that now also takes his eldest daughter Marion.
