Clips were removed for all the singles from the album, and the song "Black Hole Sun" became the band's calling card.

In 1995 the band received 2 Grammy awards and 2 nominations. Album "Superunknown" was included in the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" by Rolling Stone magazine, and was ranked fifth on the "Top Ten List of Guitar Albums of 1994" by Guitar World magazine. The songs from the album were used as soundtracks for 3DO and PlayStation games.

After the tour in support of the album, Cornell took a break due to problems with his vocal cords. Chris spent this time profitably collaborating with the shocking king of heavy metal, "The Great and Terrible" Alice Cooper, and even wrote a song for him.
