Chester Bennington is a man whose name is associated with an era in world rock music. Legendary lead singer of Linkin Park, a talented musician and charismatic personality. Chester Bennington's voice is perhaps recognizable even by those who are not ardent rock fans. It would seem that such an incredible success is a guarantee of happiness. However, the biography of Chester Bennington, alas, is far from cloudless.

Bennington was born in the provincial town of Phoenix, Arizona, on March 20, 1976. The father of the future musician worked as a detective in the police, his mother as a nurse in a hospital. When Chester was 11 years old, the Bennington family fell apart. Bennington's mother left home, taking with her sister and older brother of Chester - Brian. Chester himself, along with another sister, remained in the care of his father.

From that moment, left without the attention of the mother, and, in fact, the father, the teenager contacts a dubious company. The boy's life begins a period marked by alcohol, drugs and endless scandals with his father. Perhaps with such a protest, little Chester tried to attract the attention of his elders, which he lacked so much after his parents divorced. Some of Chester's friends at the time never made it to adulthood. Several teenagers committed suicide, one died in an accident. It seemed that the situation could not be worse.

However, fate was not limited to these tests for Bennington: it is known that one of the family's friends molested the boy, insisting on sex. Perhaps Chester had to endure the violence from this man. Schoolwork wasn’t fun either. In an interview, Chester Bennington admits: 

Work and interest in music saved Chester Bennington from the final degradation. After graduating from high school, Bennington worked part-time at a coffee shop called Bean Tree Coffee House. He himself will later recall that this work and music is the only thing that made him get up in the morning and move. 

Bennington began mastering musical instruments with the piano. Having changed several instruments and musical groups and tried his hand at different genres, in 1993 Chester became a member of the Gray Daze collective. From this moment, his path to fame and love of fans begins.

In the Gray Daze collective, Chester Bennington became the vocalist. The musician devoted five years to this rock project, but constant disputes and disagreements with other members of the team eventually forced Bennington to leave the group. During this time, two albums were recorded. In addition, Chester, along with Sean Dowdell, a former member of the same group, opened a tattoo parlor. The thing is, tattoos were another Chester's passion besides music. There were more than ten tattoos on the musician's body. After Chester left, Jody Wendt became the vocalist of the group. For the musician himself, a new page has begun in his musical career.

It all started corny: Linkin Park, which at the time was called Xero, posted an announcement that the band needed a vocalist. Some of the musicians familiar with Chester Bennington advised us to contact him. Listening to the test track, which took place on the phone, amazed the musicians of Linkin Park, and Chester was invited to the main casting held in Los Angeles. The re-audition decided everything: Bennington's vocals were perfect for the project, and Chester was accepted into the group.

Xero's name was changed to Hybrid Theory, and the band's first album featuring Bennington is also called. The group's work quickly attracted the attention of producers, and soon a contract was signed with Warner Brothers Records. After that, the musicians again have to change the name of the team: the fact is that the rights to the Hybrid Theory brand belonged to another group. 

Linkin Park was born out of Chester's proposed Linkoln Park. The realities of the time already dictated to the collectives the need to have their own page on the network, and the linkolnpark domain was not free. The first album was released in 2000. The success was so overwhelming that for the next two years the group worked on remixes of the songs from this disc.

The next album Meteora was remembered by the fans for the songs Somewhere I Belong, Numb and Breaking The Habit. The last song, written by Mike Shinoda, Bennington's Linkin Park teammate, is very personal. This track describes the difficulties that Chester had to face, the moments that even after many years made the musician cry: childhood problems, struggle with addictions and pain that could not be expressed otherwise than in music.

The next albums of the group turned out to be diverse. In the work of the group there are tracks of different styles - from hard rock and hip-hop to light pop music. Only Chester Bennington's vocals remained unchanged. Linkin Park's songs are still loved by fans. Photos of Chester Bennington and his teammates were, perhaps, in the collection of every music lover.

In addition to music, Chester was not indifferent to acting, although the filmography of Chester Bennington, unfortunately for the fans, is not rich. The first films with Chester Bennington in cameo roles ("Adrenaline" and "Adrenaline: High Voltage") did not hit the box office, but it turned out to be an interesting experience for the musician. 

But the picture "Saw", where Bennington played one of the victims of a cruel maniac, for a long time attracted the attention of fans of horror films. And yet, despite the success and recognition, Chester Bennington will fight his addiction to alcohol for the rest of his life, which helped the musician to forget the difficult moments of childhood.

Chester Bennington's personal life was less turbulent than his career. Chester Bennington's first wife, Samantha, met the musician during his years with Gray Daze. The lovers got married in 1996 when Chester was 20 years old. The girl was not afraid of Bennington's poverty: he did not even have money to buy wedding rings. 

However, this did not upset the couple, and the newlyweds found a way out of the situation: the lovers got tattoos on their fingers in the form of rings. In April 2002, the couple had their firstborn son, Draven. Unfortunately, even the child did not help save the family, and in 2005 the couple divorced. Draven stayed with his mother.

Chester was not alone for long. At the end of the same year, Bennington married Talinda Bentley, a charming Playboy model. Chester Bennington's own children from his second marriage are the son of Tyler Lee (born in 2006) and the twins Lily and Leela, born in 2011. The couple also have two adopted sons - Isaiah and Jamie.

On July 20, 2017, Chester Bennington was found dead at his home in Palos Verdes Estate, California. Social networks Instagram and Twitter exploded with comments from fans of the musician: someone expressed condolences to Chester's relatives, someone simply refused to believe that the idol was dead.

The police will call the cause of death of Chester Bennington strangulation: the musician was found hanged. According to preliminary information announced by the media, it was suicide. Perhaps Bennington was pushed to this step by alcohol addiction, which the musician could not overcome.
