Biography
When he left high school, Bruno Cremer took acting lessons at the Conservatory and devoted his first ten years of acting exclusively to the stage. He made his film debut in 1957 with a small role in When the woman got involved by Yves Allégret, and continued with a few appearances - including one in The Fabulous History of Marco Polo (1963; Denys de La Patellière and Noel Howard) - until 'to Pierre Schoendoerffer's 317th Section which, in 1964, granted him the rank of popular actor.
With nearly seventy films, Bruno Cremer has shot a lot with Yves Boisset and in particular Jean-Claude Brisseau - respectively five and three films - but also with Costa-Gavras (Un homme de trop, 1966; Section Spéciale, 1974) , Claude Lelouch (Le Bon et les méchants, 1975), Michel Deville (Bye bye, Barbara, 1968), Patrice Chéreau (La Chair de l'Orchidée, 1974), Claude Sautet (Une histoire simple, 1978), Luchino Visconti ( The Stranger, 1967), or William Friedkin (The Convoy of Fear, 1977). During the 1990s, he worked mainly on television, only returning occasionally to the cinema - in Un vampire au paradis (1991) Taxi de nuit (1992).
Sous le sable, which he shot in 2000, is his first feature film in eight years. He is followed the following year by My father, he saved José Giovanni's life. In 2002, Bruno Cremer reunited with Pierre Schoendoerffer for the third time in Up there, a king above the clouds, giving the answer to his "old" accomplice Jacques Perrin.
