His classical musical training at the conservatory did not prevent the young Benjamin Biolay from quickly approaching pop-rock music (he learned the guitar by watching the MTV channel). After a very noticed album in 2009 ( La Superbe), the artist shows his intention to persevere in the cinema: first as a singer and composer, by producing the soundtrack for Maïwenn's Ball of actresses and by performing one of the songs from the film Thelma, Louise and Chantal; but also as an actor, playing Alain in Who wants to be loved? by Anne Giafferi, and Max, one of the main roles in La Meute by Franck Richard. He then gets the lead role in the romantic comedy Why are you crying? by Katia Lewkowicz (who had already asked him to participate in her short film C'est pour quand?), alongside actress-director Valérie Donzelli, with whom he had already worked on the music for The Queen of Apples.
