The boy studied mediocre, but he approached the study of a foreign language seriously. Thanks to this, Axel knows English perfectly and speaks it without an accent.

Another hobby of the “simple German guy” was football - the future rocker dreamed of seriously playing sports, winning cups, and winning big victories. But this passion was overpowered by the love of music. The turning point was when little Axel saw Deep Purple on TV. The boy was so impressed by the virtuoso playing of Ritchie Blackmore that he decided to learn to play the guitar himself. On his 12th birthday, his parents gave him the first acoustic guitar, and the musician's ascent began.

In 1981, Axel founded Sinner, the first musical group in his biography. A year later, the group changed its name to Steeler and under this name existed until 1989. The last year, however, the musicians coped without Pell, who left the band in 1988 and took up a solo career. In 1989, Axel founded a new group, which he gave his own name. The reason for this name was the requirement of the record company - Pell became popular thanks to Steeler, and this could help the band to develop.

The first album was successful, so the second musicians were ordered to record under the same name. And after the release of "Nasty Reputation" in 1991, it became clear that it was too late to change anything. However, fans of Axel Rudi Pell rarely call the group that way - the team is usually abbreviated to the laconic abbreviation ARP.
