Atena Manukyan used to perform in front of the audience from an early age, which helped her to gain self-confidence and the ability to give her best on stage. At the age of 10, Atena held impromptu concerts in her room, allowing her to get used to the stage and public performances. The first time a girl made a loud statement when she became the winner of the Greek music competition This Is What's Missing, which was broadcast on television.

A year later, the young singer showed off at the children's Eurovision Song Contest in Greece, where she sang to To Fili Tis Aphroditis. She failed to win the main prize, the result was 7th place, but Atena gained valuable experience of participating in such competitions.

The artist became really famous outside of Greece only after the release of XO. The single was recorded in Sweden and filmed in Sydney, Australia. In 2015, the song was awarded the Armenian Pulse Music Awards as an English-language hit.

In the same year, Manukyan visited Armenia for the first time, where he saw local attractions, met with fans and performed at a music festival with The Gentleman's band. Later she came to the country again and talked about plans to record the song in Armenian.

In 2018, Atena decided to storm the British scene and became a participant in The X Factor. At the screenings, she performed Beyonce's track Crazy in Love, which won over singer Robbie Williams. As a result, the girl received three positive responses and one negative from Louis Tomlinson and went to the next stage. Manukyan failed to become the winner.

In early 2020, the artist became a participant in the Armenian competition Depi Evratesil, timed to the Eurovision Song Contest. The girl talked about plans to perform at the selection since 2015, but she was not able to complete the training on time and agree terms with the organizers.

Shortly before the performance, she gave a short interview in which she told that she was going to stage a spectacular show. Atena called her competitors in the national selection unique and talented, but made a bet on her experience of participating in competitions.

On the Armenian stage, the singer presented the song Chains On You. In a conversation with journalists from ESCbubble, the girl revealed the deep meaning of the song. It is about the fact that each person has a natural gift (diamond), which must be developed, despite the attempts of other people to prevent it, and in the end the efforts will be rewarded.

The girl's competitors were 11 bright performers, but she was the one who won the vote of the Armenian and foreign jury, as well as the TV viewers. In total, Atena managed to score 168 points. Manukyan's award was a trip to the Eurovision Song Contest, which is held in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

On March 13 of the same year, the artist presented a vivid video clip in which she dances on stage in the form of a diamond. The video has garnered a lot of rave reviews from fans of her work.
