Biography

Aram Apetovich Asatryan is an Armenian singer, pop star, author of the hit "Bales". Music is so closely intertwined with the singer's life that a new genre of urban national song has developed in the works of Aram - rabiz, which was picked up by the musician's associates and colleagues from different countries of the world and turned into a whole layer of Armenian culture.

fact

Childhood and youth

Aram was born on March 3, 1953 in the Armenian city of Echmiadzin, which is also called "the heart of Armenia". The ancient city is located 20 km from Yerevan and is considered the focus of the country's religious life. There are five ancient temples on the territory of Echmiadzin, there are many shrines belonging to the Armenian church.

The boy's parents - refugees Apet Asatryan and Ashkhen Mampreyan - worked in the rural fields, earning money for food was difficult.

Following the family tradition, all members of the Asatryan family, young and old, played national instruments and sang well. Since childhood, Aram is accustomed to performing at rural holidays and celebrations.

Music

A talented boy from an early age began to write music and poetry. Success contributed to Aram's musical creativity, and at the age of 30, the singer decided to create his own group. The musician invited friends with whom he had worked for more than one year: Levon Abrahamyan, Khachatur Sahakyan, Suren Gasparyan and Simon Sisoyan. In 1985, the musicians recorded the hit "Near a Pure Spring", the author and performer of which was Aram Asatryan. The song made the name of the Armenian singer famous in the republics of the Soviet Union.

Shlyager was recorded illegally at the 24 Channel studio. According to the rules in force in the USSR, an amateur collective did not have the right to work at a state studio. The musicians acted cunningly: having studied all the features of sound recording devices from books, the young people bribed the guards, entered the studio at night and made all the necessary recordings. This is how the first cassette of Aram Asatryan appeared, which was distributed to the Armenian communities.

Since there was no photo of the performer on the cover, and fame went ahead of the name, many unscrupulous singers, deciding to seize the moment, appropriated other people's hits, performing them at their own concerts. But each time the deception was revealed, since not a single double could reproduce all the features of Aram Asatryan's performance.

The singer soon became recognizable compatriots throughout Armenia, and numerous admirers of the singer's creativity began to take an interest in Asatryan's biography. During the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, the singer, along with his comrades, showed great courage and patriotism, speaking in front of volunteers in hot spots. The songs performed by Aram Asatryan raised the fighting spirit of the soldiers and made the musician a national hero of Armenia.

Aram Asatryan not only created the songs himself, but also performed musical compositions of other authors: Sergey Karinyan, Konstantin Orbelian, Aramais Sahakyan, William Vardanyan, Gusan Sedrak and others. Aram Asatryan included in his concerts musical compositions in Persian, the texts of which were created for him by the poet Andranik Muradyan, who lives in Iran. So the music of the Armenian singer spread in the Arab region.

Aram Asatryan was given the nickname “godfather” of the national song genre rabiz, the Armenian urban song. But the artist's sons are inclined to the version that Aram's work was more close to pop music. The first albums of the singer, recorded after the collapse of the USSR in his homeland, were records of patriotic content: "Independent Armenia", "Look at the world", "Free Armenia", "You are an Armenian".

In the mid-90s, Aram Asatryan's fame went far beyond the post-Soviet space. Armenians who immigrated to the United States loved the compatriot's music. At the invitation of the diaspora in New York, Aram leaves for America to record new discs. The musician planned to stay in a foreign land for 5-6 years. Asatryan took his wife and children with him.

In the States, the singer-songwriter opens his own recording studio "Star Records", where he writes albums "The Golden Album", "The Best Of", "Aram and Armen Live", "Aram Assatrian in Los Angeles", "Come back, years", “10 years on stage”.

The singer constantly visits his native Armenia. In 1996 and 1998, Aram was invited to shoot the comedy Our Yard, directed by Mikhail Dovlatyan. The painting was created in Yerevan and is dedicated to the peculiarities of life guarding the cramped but cozy city quarters. The main roles were played by Hrant Tokhatyan, Ashot Ghazaryan, Armen Khostikyan, Mkrtich Arzumanyan, Armen Dzhigarkhanyan.

Love for the homeland of Aram Asatryan was boundless, it manifested itself in the creation of songs on national themes: "Surb Sarkis", which tells about an ancient legend, "Mayrik" - a folk song about love for a mother. The musical compositions "Lusnyak-Lusnyak", "Sharan", "Acher" are still very popular with the singer's fans. The musical composition "Jan Bales" has been recognized as a worldwide hit. On the melody of the Armenian song, the musical compositions "Oh, love, love" were created, which was performed by the Russian singer Pierre Narciss, and the remix of the hit "Black Eyes" by Aidamir Mugu.

In total, Aram Asatryan has recorded over 500 songs. Songs "Zulumen Zulum", "Gnums gna" also became the singer's shlagers. In 2003, the Armenian government nominated the singer for the Gusan award. In the same year, the artist celebrated his anniversary with a concert, at which, in addition to him, his children and grandchildren performed. With a concert program dedicated to the 50th anniversary, Aram Asatryan went on tour through the cities of Russia.

In the early 2000s, the musician recorded new discs "Say or Not?" The new musical material is diverse in genres: songs are dedicated to love, parting, cheerful folk holidays, philosophical reflections. The last album, which was released in 2006, Aram created in collaboration with his sons Artashes and Tigran.

Despite national love and popularity, Aram did not call himself a star. The artist said that the stars exist only in the sky. But, according to his sons, he managed to rise from the very bottom to the top of the musical Olympus and returned to the people, remaining loved. The song followed Aram everywhere. According to the recollections of relatives, Asatryan woke up and fell asleep along with his favorite tunes, and during the day the music sounded all the time from the lips of the singer.

Personal life

Aram Asatryan raised three sons (Artashes, Tigran, Sedrak) and a daughter Ashkhen. All of the singer's children are involved in music and live in the United States. In his youth, Aram Asatryan's son Artashes spent a lot of time with his father, went on tour with him, took part in sound recordings. Artashes Asatryan began his solo music career in Armenia in the late 90s. His album Taxi-Taxi, recorded at the turn of the century, was warmly received by the audience. Today, the son of Aram Asatryan is called the star of the Armenian chanson.

In 2006, a tragedy occurred in the artist's family. 30-year-old son Sedrak crashed in a car accident. Aram experienced personal loss, but never showed his feelings in public. The singer kept grief inside, which ultimately affected his health.

Aram arrived from the USA a week ago and was preparing for the presentation of the latest album "My sons". Nothing foreshadowed a tragedy, the artist was preparing for a tour of Russia and Europe. At some point in the evening, Asatryan lost consciousness. Those present immediately called doctors. The ambulance arrived and stated death, which was caused by a heart attack.

The untimely death of the musician was a blow to his family and friends, as well as to fans, among whom rumors soon spread that the musician had been killed. But in reality, Aram had a heart attack. The family had to fly to Armenia from the United States as soon as possible.

The funeral took place in the singer's hometown of Etchmiadzin. Aram Asatryan's grave is located in the cemetery of the Zvartnots Temple.

After a grievous loss, the father's business was continued by his sons, who in several years prepared 300 previously unreleased songs by Aram Asatryan. Clips were shot for the musical compositions "Bales", "Krunkner", "Masis", "I am an Armenian".
