Born in Strijen in South Holland to a nursing mother and a Protestant pastor father, Anton Corbjin took his first picture at the age of seventeen in a concert by the Dutch group Solution. Three years later he took a new direction, that of the thriller, with The American (2010), an adaptation of the novel "A Very Private Gentleman" by Martin Booth, and which featured George Clooney in the skin of a contract killer ready to surrender without knowing that his latest mission will turn into carnage.

In 2014, after directing the clip  ReflektorArcade Fire, he delivers his third feature film, the spy film A Very Wanted Man, in the same vein of his previous film with the cast:  Rachel McAdams, Robin Wright and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
