Antoine Chappey

First a musician, Antoine Chappey made his film debut in Mona et Moi. He embodies a bassist bookseller, activities that he then carries out in life. Continuing with small roles at Klapisch, he is one of the eccentric heroes of Indian Swimming, Xavier Durringer's first film. The actor then delivers two very remarkable compositions, one disturbing, in Le Rocher d'Acapulco (1993), the other hilarious in vaudeville Pour rire! by Lucas Belvaux (1994). Second role accustomed to embodying solid men with a hidden sensitivity (Le Bleu des Villes in 1999), Antoine Chappey often turns alongside his partner Maryline Canto (We call that ... spring, The Milk of human tenderness).

A familiar silhouette of the new French auteur cinema, Chappey is also entrusted with beautiful characters by the master of Portuguese cinema Manoel de Oliveira: moving M. de Clèves in La Lettre, he is Michel Piccoli's agent in Je rentre à la House. The actor finds great roles in demanding but confidential films (The Days Where I Do Not Exist by Jean-Charles Fitoussi) and participates in many short and medium-length films, signed Ravalec or Marie Vermillard. An anti-star with a brilliant filmography, this subtle and discreet actor also turns with the successful authors such as Ozon (he plays the homo brother of Stéphane Freiss in 5 x 2) and Xavier Beauvois: he plays the eldest of Benoît Magimel in harsh According to Matthieu (2000), then one of the cops who host Le Petit lieutenant Lespert (2005).

In 2006, he starred in Cache-cache, Yves Caumon's "tale", which received several nominations at the 37th edition of the Directors' Fortnight. The actor is also asked in several French comedies, and in particular in The House of happiness of Dany Boon or in Bad faith of Roschdy Zem, which he finds the same year in Indigènes of Rachid Bouchareb. On the occasion of the collective film for the 60th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival, To Each His Own Cinema, Manoel de Oliveira offers him a new role in his segment "Unique Encounter".

After a few appearances in television series such as Le Grand Patron or Suite noire, Antoine Chappey played the role of Charles Blondin in the first season of the drama series Maison close in 2010. He then returned to the big screen playing in the thriller Poupoupidou by Gérald Hustache-Mathieu and in the comedy Pauline detective by Marc Fitoussi, in which he plays Sandrine Kiberlain and Audrey Lamy.
