Biography
Born to Christian missionary parents, Andrew Adamson long wanted to become an architect, before finally embracing a career in the film industry. His passion for drawing finally led him to work in 1985 for The Mouse That Roared , a New Zealand production company, where he made his debut in special effects and computer animation. At Video Images, Ltd. then, he works on the creation of company logos or credits for TV shows. In 1991, he moved to Los Angeles and was hired at Pacific Data Images., who gave him the position of technical director on his very first film: Toys, by Barry Levinson. Three years later, James Cameron called on him to give him the post of visual effects supervisor of True Lies, before moving on to the set of Batman Forever and its sequel.
However, it was only with the planetary triumph of Shrek and even more of his suite that he gained recognition, starting with that of the studios which now see him as a sure bet in Hollywood: the first Shrek, endowed with 'a budget of $ 60 million, brings in nearly 500 million to the world soundtrack, while the second part of the adventures of the green ogre brings in nearly 900, and is crowned with a citation for the Oscar for Best Animation Film. If he does not officiate at the production of Shrek the Third, he nevertheless retains control of his creation, as a producer and screenwriter.
Spotted by Disney, the studio then entrusted him with a major project: adapting The Chronicles of Narnia: chapter 1 - the lion, the white witch and the magic cabinet, the first part of CS Lewis' flagship work. It is also a triumph: the film brings in nearly 800 million dollars to the soundtrack. He therefore naturally remains in charge of the second component. In 2010, the filmmaker should return to the film that made his glory: he will indeed sign Shrek 4.
