Anastasia Vladimirovna Kuzmina, whose maiden name is Anastasia Shipulina, is known to biathlon fans all over the world. The athlete, while still in the Russian national team, showed a good result, and when the girl immigrated to Slovakia and began to play for this country, she twice won the European Championships and won the gold medals of the Olympic Games three times. At the end of 2010, sports journalists from her new homeland unanimously named Anastasia “The best sportsman in Slovakia”.

Nastya was born in Tyumen and became the first child in a family of masters of sports in cross-country skiing and biathlon Vladimir Ivanovich and Alla Abushaevna. Three years later, twins Anna and Anton Shipulins were born - the younger brother and sister. Anton Shipulin today is no less famous athlete, Olympic champion, the main hope of the Russian national biathlon team.

Anastasia Kuzmina's sports biography initially included many sports. The girl started skiing under the guidance of mom and dad at a tender age, but later she also went in for figure skating and karate. However, when it came time to focus on one sport, Nastya chose cross-country skiing.

Anastasia Kuzmina left for biathlon when she was 15 years old, and at the junior level she collected a huge number of medals of various denominations in domestic competitions and international championships.

An important stage for Shipulina-Kuzmina's sports career was her participation in 2001-2002 at the YChM in Italy, the city of Ridnau, where the girl won second place in the team relay.

Shipulina's sister, Anastasia Kuzmina, received her higher education at a non-core university - the girl graduated from the Tyumen Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

Biathlete Anastasia Kuzmina, whose height by that time was already 180 cm and weight - 68 kg, joined the adult Russian national team in 2005 and for two seasons represented her native country in all competitions. The first race, which took place in Oberhof, at the World Cup stage brought the 21-year-old athlete 63rd place in the overall standings.

Nastya's best result at that time was 13th at the beginning of the 2006-2007 season. Soon after Anastasia Shipulina appeared in the national team, the famous Olympic champion Galina Kukleva finished her performances. During the festive farewell evening, Galina handed over her own rifle that brought her luck to Nastya.

At the end of 2008, due to the circumstances of her personal life, Kuzmina put on the uniform of the Slovak national team. Representing this country, Anastasia has achieved the best results. Anastasia's first competition as a Slovak athlete was the IBU Cup, which was held in Martello, Italy. A year after the birth of Anastasia's child, the World Championship in Pieng-Chang was resigned, where the athlete came second after the Russian Olga Zaitseva, with whom she was previously in the same team.

Soon, the athlete became the silver medalist of the World Championship, then Kuzmina conquered two races of the European Championship in Russian Ufa, and the biathlete for the first time climbed to the highest step of the podium at the adult level. Later there was also a gold medal at the World Cup in Austria.

The main achievement in biathlon of Anastasia Kuzmina is the "gold" of the Olympic Games. For the first time, the girl won the sprint race in Vancouver, Canada in 2010, and four years later in Sochi, the Slovak biathlete repeated this success again. In between victories, the biathlete suffered a hand injury, as a result of which Anastasia had to miss the World Championships in Oberhof and Ruhpolding.

The turning point served as an incentive for the athlete to intensify training before the Olympics and a natural victory. After that, for family reasons, Anastasia dropped out of the sport for two years, and few expected to see the girl on the track again at a high level. But Kuzmina returned at the end of 2016 and in the very first official race she got into the six strongest biathletes.

In April 2007, Anastasia Kuzmina's personal life changed dramatically. First, the girl married an Israeli skier of Russian origin Daniel Kuzmin, whom she met during a training camp in the Austrian city of Ramsau: young people climbed the mountain together in the same trailer. Secondly, she changed the name of Shipulin to Kuzmina and became famous all over the world under her. Thirdly, she moved to Slovakia, where her husband had been living for 12 years, and refused to perform for Russia.

Initially, biathlete Anastasia Kuzmina-Shipulina made this decision because of pregnancy: in the same 2007, the athlete gave birth to her son Elisey. But after a while Kuzmina decided to return to big sports, and the girl faced a choice: either to live with her husband and represent Slovakia, or to return to her homeland alone. Like any normal woman, Anastasia chose a family. Now the biathlete, together with Daniel, lives and trains in the Slovak city of Banska Bystrica. And in the summer of 2015, a second child appeared in the family, a daughter named Olivia.

The main hobby in the life of a biathlete is culinary delights with which Anastasia pleases her family. Also, the athlete loves good modern music, without which not a single day of the Olympic champion can do. After the end of her career, Anastasia would like to open her own flower shop, in which she can create ikebana with her own hands. Like brother Anton Shipulin, Anastasia Kuzmina is actively involved in charity work. Together with her husband, Kuzmina often visits sick children in the Slovak Roosevelt hospital, gives gifts and provides all possible assistance.

Having played for Slovakia in the 2016-2017 season, Anastasia Kuzmina earned 176 points and 40th place in the overall standings. But the athlete did not give up in her desire to improve her professional form. In early April, Anastasia has already entered the track in the Norwegian Shusheen, where the spring training camp took place. In August, the biathlete trained for three weeks in New Zealand. In the fall, Anastasia went to the IBU Cup in Switzerland.

This season, Kuzmina won two gold and two silver medals at the World Championships, which were held in Annecy and Hochfilzen, as a result of which she became the leader of the overall standings.
