The distinctive, strong, amazing voice of Nastya Polevoy became the first female vocals to sound on the rock scene of the 80s era. It is known that immediately after school, Nastya entered the Sverdlovsk Architectural Institute, where at that moment, and it was the end of the 70s, there was a massive passion for rock music. Tape recorders were brought to the audience, from the speakers of which guitar solos were heard.

On this wave, the first amateur groups were created. The guys played guitars, wrote heartfelt poems, performed in a semi-underground format. Nastya was drawn into this underground musical whirlpool in her first year.

The girl wanted to learn to sing. She joined the local rock party, began to attend rehearsals, try, experiment. And soon Nastya's amateur vocals acquired a completely original sound. So much so that the Trek collective, created in 1980, entrusted the girl to perform a couple of compositions. In this group, Nastya took her first steps as a rock vocalist.

After the collapse of "Trek" in 1984, a difficult period began for Nastya. The girl missed music, there were no offers from the groups, and it was difficult for her, a layman, to start a solo project alone. And yet she began to ask musician friends to write several compositions for her.

In 1985, Slava Butusov, the leader of the already famous "Nautilus", presented the singer with his early songs "Snow Wolves" and "Clipso-Calypso". Others openly brushed it off:

Nastya had to sit down at the keys. As best she could, she began to compose melodies, which soon accumulated on an entire album. Familiar fellow musicians translated them into the "language of notes", and in 1986 Poleva accepted the musical baptism of rock, being accepted into the ranks of the Sverdlovsk rock club. Soon, the singer gathered a team called "Nastya" after the name of the founder and vocalist.

And despite the fact that the team consisted of session musicians, except for the guitarist Yegor Belkin, in 1987 the singer recorded her first album "Tatsu", the cover of which was decorated with her photo. The lyrics to the songs were written by Ilya Kormiltsev, the poetical guru of Nautilus and other performers.

In the same year, the Nastya group performed at the II festival of the Sverdlovsk rock club. In 1988 Poleva became the best vocalist at the Miss Rock festival in Kiev. The success of the performer was noted in the press, critics even called her "Soviet Kate Bush", the singers were compared externally: the petite brunette Kate and the taller (167 cm tall) blonde Nastya.

In 1989, Nastya's second album was released with the no less mysterious name "Noa Noa". Now the lyrics are written by Ilya Kormiltsev's brother, Eugene. In the same year, the group conducted a tour, shot several clips ("Noa Noa", "Stratosphere" and others).

In the same year, Nastya also tries herself as an author of texts. As a result, the author's composition "Dance on tiptoe" will be recognized as the best song at the Kiev festival "Miss Rock 1990". In the early 90s, the singer toured a lot - around the country and abroad, visiting Holland and Germany.

The last album of the Sverdlovsk period was the group's third disc, "The Bride", published in 1992. The disc turned out to be surprisingly lyrical. Nastya's fans fell in love with the hits "Flying Frigate", "Love and Lies", "Happiness". Clips for these tracks got into rotation. And "The Flying Frigate" performed by the singer sounded in Alexey Balabanov's film "Brother" (1997).

In 1993, Nastya Poleva turns another page of her biography and leaves to live in St. Petersburg. A devoted friend, musician and colleague Yegor Belkin goes with her. The first year and a half after the move were marked by a creative pause, no concerts, performances. And in 1996, work began on a new album, Sea of ​​Siam, which was released in 1997.
