Biography
Alfred Reinholdovich Koch is a businessman, writer, and a few years ago he was also a statesman, as well as the CEO of Gazprom-Media. He is best known as a co-author of the privatization program, a liberal and an active oppositionist of the current government. During Boris Yeltsin's rule, Alfred Koch served as Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. The assessment of its activities is not unambiguous. One part of Russians, including Anatoly Chubais, considers Koch a patriot and freedom fighter, while others, on the contrary, accuse the former official of Russophobia and perceive the accusations against Vladimir Putin's policies as insults to Russia.
Alfred Koch was born in February 1961 in the Republic of Kazakhstan, more precisely in the town of Syryanovsk. His father Reinhold Davydovich, a German by nationality who had lived in the Krasnodar region all his life, was exiled there before the war. Nina's mother was a thoroughbred Russian, so Alfred Koch's nationality is mixed - half German, half Russian. When the construction of a new car factory was announced in the country, the Koch family moved to Togliatti, where they spent their childhood and adolescence of the future statesman.
My father got a job as the head of the department of related productions of the Volga auto plant and worked there almost until his death. Alfred himself went to the Northern capital after graduating from the Tolyattin school and enrolled in the Leningrad Institute of Finance and Economics, graduating in 1983 with a specialty in Economic Cybernetics. According to the distribution, the young man got to the Research Institute of Structural Materials "Prometheus." Later, Koch defended his Ph.D. thesis on "Methods of Comprehensive Assessment of Territorial Conditions for the Placement of Industrial Facilities" and began teaching at the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute at the Department of Economics and Radio Electronics Management.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Alfred Koch's biography was closely linked to politics until the early 21st century. He then focused on journalism and writing books. In 2015, Alfred Reinholdovich left for permanent residence in Germany, the historical homeland of his father. This happened after a criminal case was opened against him under the article "Smuggling". The fact that Koch tried to take out from Russia a picture of the artist Isaac Brodsky, which declared as a copy and forgery. Customs officers doubted, the re-examination proved the authenticity of the work of art, although the lawyer Alfred Reinholdovich retained the report of another examination, which considered the painting a quality copy. As a result, after a long trial, Koch was charged in absentia in February 2016 with "smuggling cultural property."
fact
Policies
In 1990, Alfred Reinholdovich was elected chairman of the executive committee of the Sestroretsky District Council of People's Deputies of Leningrad. He proved himself in this position as a promising leader and was sent to study at the Chilean Institute for Freedom and Development. When Koch returned from overseas studies, his career went up sharply. In St. Petersburg, Alfred Koch's state activities were linked to the property management committee, and when he was summoned to Moscow, he was entrusted with the position of deputy chairman of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for the Management of State Property.
During the first Russian presidential elections, Alfred Reinholdovich was not officially a member of Boris Yeltsin's team, but was informally actively involved in the pre-election struggle. Therefore, few people were surprised by the appointment of Koch to the post of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, that is, to the place of vice-speaker. However, the official stayed there only for about six months, as he was prosecuted in connection with the abuse of power. The case was later closed due to amnesty.
Moving away a little from politics, Alfred Koch went into big business. He was involved with such large enterprises as the leading operator in the securities market Montes Auri, NTV and Gazprom-Media Holding. At the end of February 2006, he was elected representative of the Legislative Assembly of the Leningrad Region to the Federation Council. But soon at the initiative of the regional prosecutor the court got a lawsuit that the results of the vote were fabricated. Therefore, just two months after his appointment, Alfred Reinholdovich voluntarily resigns from his duties and leaves the state and political activities of Russia.
fact
Privatization
Koch was one of the main initiators and ardent supporters of large-scale privatization of state property. According to modern estimates, his insistence on implementing radical reforms and selling public value into private hands have caused enormous damage to the national economy. The problem was not the very fact of the sale of state property, but the incredibly low price tags.
For example, the profitable norilsk nickel company, which by the most modest estimates was estimated at a couple of billion dollars, sold for only 170 million. And experts have found many such examples. And in addition to the financial loss, the damage to Russia was caused by the leak to the West of advanced domestic scientific developments and, most importantly, control packages of strategically important enterprises, in particular, the defense complex.

Books
In the late 1990s, the first printed edition was published, including the name of Alfred Koch. It was a book "Privatization in Russian" in which the authors of the idea of privatization explained to the people why it was necessary at all, because of what mistakes occurred and so on. That is, they set out the essence of the situation from their own point of view. A few years later, Koch co-authored a shocking four-volume "Vodka Box" with journalist Igor Svinarenko. Many readers perceived the writing as an insult to the country, the Russian nation and history, but, nevertheless, the work was nominated for the "Big Book" award, however, did not win.
Later, from under the pen of the colorful writer-official is published collection "Denial of denial, or Battle of Auschwitz. Debate on the demographics and geopolitics of the Holocaust." This book is again co-written, this time with the demographer Pavel Polyan. The collection provides a large number of factual and statistical materials about the destruction of the Jewish nation and proves that the reduction of the significance of this tragedy is not only a falsification of history, but also a specially realized dangerous geopolitical project.
In 2013, Alfred Reinholdovich published a frank and informal collection of interviews with Russian politicians, "The Gaidar Revolution: A History of Reforms of the 1990s First Hand," and his last book was the publication of "The Story of One Village" about the fate of German colonists from the first settlements under Peter I and Catherine II to the terrible situation in the mid-20th century, when the Soviet Germans were caught between two lights, Joseph And Adolf Hitler.
fact
Personal life
Little is known about Alfred Koch's personal life. He's married. His wife Marina is three years older than her husband, is an economist by training, but in recent years she has been engaged in household chores. They raised two daughters together. The eldest daughter Elena, who was born in 1980, graduated from the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation and works in the largest company in Eastern Europe, associated with advertising and media business. Alfred Koch's second daughter, Olga, is 12 years younger than her sister.
Despite the fact that Alfred Koch and his wife live fairly amicably, periodically in the press there are reports of romantic adventures of the ex-official with other women. The last in the company of Alfred Reinholdovich on vacation on the island of Cyprus was seen actress Daria Ekamasova. Both Alfred, Daria and Marina Koch chose not to comment on this information.
