The St. Petersburg cyber-folk group "Atlantida project" appeared in 2007. At the same time, fans of high-quality club music recognized Sasha Sokolova, an original performer with an amazing timbre.

Each composition of the collective is a concentrated musical idea, a bundle of energy and extraordinary, unearthly images. There is neither excessive protraction, nor vulgar and hackneyed subjects. The voice of the soloist, as Ivan Alekseev (aka Noize MC) recalled, “spoke the cosmos”. With the rapper, Sasha recorded the last song in her life "Jordan" and shot the video of the same name.

Sasha Sokolova was born in St. Petersburg on March 20, 1981. In 2005, she received a diploma from the College of Culture and Arts with a degree in "Folklore Ensemble Leader". There is no more detailed information about the early years of the singer's biography.

The desire to sing led the girl to a collective called "Red Theater", then the group "Aorta" appeared, followed by "Bereg". There were also unnamed teams, consisting of friends - fans of ethnic groups, with whom Sokolova performed at city events.

In 2007, Sasha sang with Bereg in a semi-legal club on the outskirts of St. Petersburg. The meeting place for music lovers was organized by Sergey Zyazin. From the acquaintance of young people, a new page in the singer's career began.

Alexandra was the inspiration and curator of the Atlantida project, and her unusual voice and amazing charisma very quickly turned the project into a well-known and recognizable far beyond the borders of her native city and even the country.

According to the recollections of Igor Starshinov, a St. Petersburg electronic musician who now lives in Tyumen, Sokolov's friends called Alice. This was the name of the analog synthesizer, on which Sasha, coming to visit, played for hours.

Each composition sung by Sasha Sokolova is unique. A strong “folklore” voice combined with ultra-modern cyber motifs make a lasting impression on the listeners. During the short period of the Atlantida project's existence, they learned about the guys and the vocalist far beyond the borders of Russia.

After the release of their debut album, which consisted of 12 tracks, the group toured the country extensively. Having traveled around the big cities of Russia, the musicians began to go on foreign tours in Estonia, Poland, Israel, where they received a warm welcome. At the festivals, Alexandra's team was accompanied by the same followers of unconventional sound - the I-Laska Band, FLASH, Noises of Russia.

When asked how Sasha manages to write songs that are not similar to one another, the performer replied that she was acting on a whim and following her feelings. Each composition is a stream of consciousness and inspiration, which Sokolova embodies in words and music. The main thing is that this flow is clean and clear.

Sasha Sokolova's songs really look like a light beam or stream. They are surprisingly harmonious. Everything else is a matter of technology, in the truest sense of the word. The cybermotifs and musical "landscapes" conceived by Sasha were created by Sergey Zyazin, a musician and multi-instrumentalist. The music that accompanied the singing of the vocalist was created without the use of a computer or a DJ console. These are analog synthesizers. Instrumental music and electronic sound are skillfully woven into the musical fabric.

As for the instruments used by the band's musicians, among them there were surprising and unusual ones, such as a Tibetan bowl, didgeridoo, well-recognized by lovers of Indian music, percussion and others. Sasha and Sergei Zyazin often changed their instruments at concerts, this created a kind of unexpectedly pleasant performance.

Sokolova defined the group's musical experiments as cyber-psycho punk and cyber-folk. An important aspect of the collective's creativity was a very careful and respectful attitude towards folk music from different countries. Interestingly, the musicians did not give preference to the folklore of a particular country. They had both Slavic tunes and Indian mantras.

Sasha's personal life is closely related to the profession. With Sergei Zyazin, the girl became close on the basis of creativity. Serious passions raged between lovers. In a pair, and even in Bereg, Sergey began to dominate. The rest of the colleagues did not like this, the couple left and founded the Atlantida project. After a serious quarrel that broke out in 2008, the romantic relationship gradually faded. But the artists realized that none of them would find another person who would understand so musically, and the creative union has only grown stronger.

Nothing is known about Sokolova's second chosen one named Dmitry Mak. The young woman did not manage to marry her beloved and start a family, the appearance of which she had long dreamed of. Having learned about the fatal diagnosis, the singer first of all thought not about that she would die, but that there was an operation ahead, after which it was impossible to have children.

Alexandra learned about ovarian cancer in May 2014 in Israel, where the group came on tour. Apparently, the difficult climate and not very comfortable conditions in which the musicians stopped were the last straw: the disease manifested itself in sudden and terrible pain. Sasha was hospitalized immediately after the end of the concert. The doctors announced the diagnosis, which knocked him down. As Sokolova later said in an interview, she was in shock for a month. The worst thing for her was that the doctors did not give either time or a chance to recover. Month - that's how many doctors measured out for a 33-year-old woman.

Another problem is the huge amount that was required for an urgent operation, which gave hope for an extension of life. Half a million rubles for the musicians of the group and the performer herself turned out to be an overwhelming burden. Then they asked fans for help via social networks. The money was collected surprisingly quickly - during the May holidays.

In support of a colleague in the Moscow club "B2", a concert was held with the participation of Inna Zhelannaya, Masha Makarova, Olga Arefieva and groups performing music for gourmets of extraordinary genres.

After surgery and chemotherapy, Sasha Sokolova returned home. A difficult and painful treatment began. In between the next chemotherapy sessions, the vocalist took the stage. The illness seemed to recede. And although Sasha was very weak (sat during the concerts), the fans were happy with the appearance of the singer and hoped for a positive outcome.

Since classical medicine was powerless, Sokolova was treated with non-traditional methods. In St. Petersburg, a woman was lucky to meet Dr. Vyacheslav Senin, who changed the treatment regimen and used hyperthermia. Sasha is considered the first official patient on whom experimental viral therapy was tried.

Most of the metastases were destroyed, and the cause of the singer's death was the so-called side effect, which caused pulmonary edema and stroke. The message that the vocalist had died appeared on the group's page on VKontakte; neither the band, nor Alexandra had an account on Instagram.

The grave of the popular performer is located at the Komarovsky cemetery, not far from the resting places of Anna Akhmatova and Sergei Kuryokhin. To organize a dignified funeral, the Atlantida Project concert organizer had to throw a cry for help on social media again, because it needed permission from the city authorities. Also, the whole world collected 480 thousand rubles. at the monument to Sasha.

After the death of Alexandra Starshinov, I found in the archives, among the old photos and tracks, a joint song recorded back in 2012. 6 years later, Igor and Sergey Zyazin decided to release the song "Eyes of the Goat" in memory of their friend. The group dedicated the album "Abyss" to the soloist.

In December 2016, the premiere of the last video by Sasha Sokolova, filmed for the song "We are here", took place. In 2017, a previously unreleased acoustic version of the song "Jordan" appeared on Youtube. The video was filmed in a St. Petersburg club in 2014, Sasha accompanies himself on domra.
