Alexander's adult life began with the Krasnodar Polytechnic Institute, from which Tkachev successfully graduated in 1983 and received a degree in mechanical engineering. Immediately after graduation, he went to work for his father at the plant and, starting from the bottom, from the position of a heating engineer, he quickly climbed to the top of the career ladder. In 2000, Tkachev completed his postgraduate studies at the Kuban Agricultural Institute and defended his Ph.D. thesis. After another 4 years, he became a Doctor of Economics, presenting a scientific work on the topic of cooperation and diversification at enterprises of the agro-industrial complex. The Dissernet community, which is engaged in the examination of dissertations, notes in Alexander's work massive borrowings from other people's projects.

The political biography of Alexander Nikolaevich dates back to 1994. Then Tkachev was elected a deputy of the regional Legislative Assembly, and a year later the politician joined the ranks of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. At the end of the same year, Alexander won the gubernatorial elections in the Krasnodar Territory and, having received the support of 82.4% of the population, headed the region for the next 4 years. The politician is credited with a sharp increase in the budget, which became a kind of foundation for the revival of the region. Tkachev's speeches against the sale of peasant land ensured steady support from the population.

Alexander's governorship also had dark streaks. In 2005, the official initiated a global restructuring of Krasnodar, which caused discontent among city residents. But thanks to his diplomatic approach, Tkachev managed to resolve differences with the population and implement his ideas in full.

In 2007, Alexander Nikolayevich was appointed the President of Russia for the third governor's term. During this period, he managed to attract foreign investors to the development of the region: a Swiss factory for the production of instant coffee Nestle and a German agricultural machinery plant Claas were built in the Kuban, which provided a large population with jobs and replenished the budget of the Krasnodar Territory.

Thanks to Tkachev's professional activity, Kuban returned the status of the granary of the Russian Federation, took a leading position in the collection of sugar beets, grain, production of wines and seeds. In 2012, the then head of state, Dmitry Medvedev, again extended Tkachev's powers for 5 years.

Alexander Nikolaevich contributed to the organization and preparation of the Olympic Games in Sochi, which became a triumph of the politician during the years of his rule in the region. For this Tkachev received the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree. The international event brought the governor the approval of the government and the dislike of his own electorate. The construction of Olympic facilities was accompanied by a number of problems with Russian Railways and citizens. Residents of Sochi themselves felt the ill-considered tactical solutions to the issue.

In 2014, Tkachev came up with an initiative to cancel the mayoral elections, which led to protests. A series of single pickets took place in Krasnodar. More massive protests took place in Yaroslavl, whose governor, Sergei Yastrebov, came up with a similar bill. The rally numbered a thousand people, representatives of the parties Yabloko, Communists of Russia, RPR-PARNAS and the Solidarity movement were noticed in the protest masses.

In March 2015, Alexander Nikolaevich voluntarily resigned, Tkachev's successor in this position was Veniamin Kondratyev, who on September 13, 2015 won more than 83% of the votes in the gubernatorial elections.

The appointment of Alexander Tkachev to the post of Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation came as a surprise to everyone. The President of Russia entrusted this position to an experienced, from his point of view, agrarian, who will carry out the import substitution reform and ensure the food security of the state.

Alexander Tkachev promised to “feed the country” with Russian products, push out imported products from the market, increase production volumes, reduce prices and develop the agricultural business to a large-scale level.

A loud initiative of the new Minister of Agriculture was the proposal to destroy products, the import of which was banned by the Russian Federation in response to anti-Russian sanctions. Vladimir Putin supported this proposal and signed a corresponding decree, according to which, from August 6, 2015, sanctioned goods in the country will be completely liquidated.

In 2017, Rosselkhozbank launched a mechanism for concessional lending to the agro-industrial complex at a rate not exceeding 5% per annum. Tkachev stressed that the Ministry of Agriculture agreed with the bank on lending issues in less than 2 months, and by the spring had provided part of the loans to hundreds of agricultural producers. In March, Rosselkhozbank sent 25 billion rubles. enterprises from 44 regions of the Russian Federation. The minister hoped that the funding would help carry out the sowing campaign on time and ensure a high harvest for the year.

Alexander Tkachev continued to work for the benefit of import substitution. The minister accused Belarus that the country has become a transshipment base for European producers who have come under Russian sanctions.

In 2012, the share of “Belarusian-made” products on the Russian market was 1%, and by 2017 it had grown to 15%. Tkachev saw the reason for the sharp increase in the fact that 40% of allegedly Belarusian goods are imported to Russia from outside thanks to the free trade zone. Temporary checkpoints revealed illegal supply patterns: false transit, re-export, falsification of certificates.

Against the background of the conflict with Belarus, at the congress of the Association of Peasant (Farming) Farms and Agricultural Cooperatives of Russia, the minister called on farmers to tackle the dairy problem and oust dairy products from Belarus from the Russian market. Rosselkhoznadzor then imposed restrictive measures for Belarusian food products.

On March 18, 2018, the presidential elections in Russia were held, in which Vladimir Putin won again. After taking office, he offered the post of prime minister to Dmitry Medvedev. On May 18, the new composition of the Russian government was announced to journalists. Alexander Tkachev did not retain his post, Dmitry Patrushev, the former head of the Russian Agricultural Bank and the son of the Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, became the new minister of agriculture.

Having lost his place in the government, Tkachev returned to the Agrocomplex, previously headed by him, as a member of the board of directors. The media reported on the possible appointment of the ex-minister as the president's plenipotentiary envoy in the Southern or Volga Federal District, or as ambassador to Belarus. Further events denied this information - the posts went to other people.

Personal life

Alexander Tkachev talked a little about his personal life. With his wife Olga Storozhenko, the former minister and governor raised their daughters Lyubov and Tatiana. The latter is married to businessman Roman Batalov, gave her father a granddaughter, Alexander. The Vesri.ru portal wrote that the couple took the girl Nastya from the orphanage, but there are no details about the fate of the pupil.

In 2009, Alexander Tkachev became the only Kuban official who disclosed and fully declared income, amounting to 1.6 million rubles. The wife of the politician in the same year earned 2 times more, since she is the owner of 100% of the authorized capital of one of the Russian companies.

In 2014, the income of the head of the family increased - the ex-governor of the Krasnodar Territory declared 2.2 million rubles, the earnings of Tkachev's wife doubled - Olga Ivanovna received 5 million 200 thousand rubles. The minister's declaration in 2015 included an amount of 50.5 million rubles.

The press wrote a lot about the Tkachev family business. According to this information, during the time while Alexander was in charge of the federal ministry, his relatives got almost all the large enterprises of the Kuban and giant land plots. Concessional loans were mentioned, large transactions, for the commission of which permission of the regulatory authorities was obtained without any problems.

Tkachev's son-in-law was accused of mediating bribe-taking. However, the case was subsequently closed, and no one from Alexander Nikolaevich's entourage, including himself, gave any comments on other facts.

The Tkachevs have pages on Facebook and Twitter, but the former official abandoned them, referring to being busy. There is no account on Instagram, but the businessman is watching the photos and videos published on this social network. So the co-owner of "Agrocomplex" discovered a video in which angry buyers accused the dairy manufacturer of the absence of natural milk in the curd. The holding company, disagreeing with the conclusions, filed a lawsuit to protect its reputation. The decision was made in favor of the enterprise.

Alexander Tkachev now

In 2019, a video appeared on the Web, in which Alexander Tkachev was captured in the company of Marina Entaltseva, Arkady Dvorkovich and Natalia Timakova. These persons once held not the last positions in the country's leadership: the head of the protocol service of the prime minister, the deputy prime minister and the press secretary of the head of government (now the deputy chairman of Vnesheconombank), respectively. Former associates are singing songs and drinking champagne on board a private jet. It is noticeable that the recording is done on the phone, and the shooter remains behind the scenes.

Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, when asked to comment on the event, replied that informal meetings of administration officials are normal if they do not violate the law.

The Internet community was divided in the assessment of the action. Some noticed that the video was recorded back in 2018 and, perhaps, became one of the explanations why the participants of the festival subsequently lost their posts. Others believe that the elite of Russian society does not differ from ordinary citizens who like to relax in a similar way: "The cultural code is the same." Still others emphasize the illegibility of Dmitry Medvedev's office in the selection of personnel, and this is reflected in the quality of the work of employees.
