During the descent, having chosen not the best tactics, Alena did not have time to recover, as she came to the finish line at number 17. Thus, the snowboarder did not even make it to the 1/8 finals. After such an unsuccessful performance, the girl regained consciousness for several months.

Nevertheless, the sporting character was not broken, and a year later, in January 2011, Alena Zavarzina wins the gold medal of the World Championship, participating in the downhill on snowboards in the parallel giant slalom. For this and other services at home, she is awarded the title of "Honored Master of Sports of Russia."

Now the eminent athlete had to prepare for the second Olympics. For the entire Russian team, it was special, because the 2014 competitions were held on the territory of Russia, in Sochi.
