Yagudin's first coach was Soviet master of sports Alexander Mayorov. He has been involved in the boy's sports education for 8 years. In 1992, Mayorov moved to Sweden, and Alexei Mishin, coach and master of sports of the USSR, took up Yagudin. Together with Yagudin, Evgeni Plushenko skated in the group.
