At that time, the guys prioritized friendship and creativity, and neither one nor the other thought about the structure of their personal life. It is reliably known that Potekhin was married twice. He met his first wife Irina Tomilova as part of the Hands Up! The girl worked in the group as a dancer and backing vocalist. Charismatic Ira won the heart of a romantic, and in April 2002 young people legalized their relationship.

For two years, the couple tried unsuccessfully to have a child. There were rumors that Irina had a miscarriage in her marriage to Alexei. After that, the doctors announced that she would no longer be able to have children. Potekhin and Tomilova denied this information. At some point, the couple left for a while in different apartments. On September 12, 2009 Potekhin married a second time. Elena became the chosen one of Alexei. The girl has nothing to do with show business. Before meeting the singer, she worked as a veterinarian. Despite the fact that the couple was not going to hide their wedding, this event was not covered in the press. The producer Andrei Malikov, who had previously worked with Mikhail Muromov, the Tekhnologiya and Van-Moo groups, helped Zhukov and Potekhin climb to the heights of the musical Olympus. The guys met him in 1996 at the Pavian Records studio. First of all, Malikov recommended that the guys change the long and incomprehensible name to the capacious and sonorous "Hands Up!" He also convinced the record company JSP to invest in the shooting of the first videos and the release of the band's debut album.
