Alexey Kasatonov is a Soviet hockey player who played as a defender, multiple World, European and Olympic champion.

Nevertheless, Kasatonov was not given hockey simply - in the courtyard of the house Alexei played without skates, and here it was necessary not only to skate, but to maneuver between rivals, keep punches, pick up speed. Only thanks to the coach and faith in himself, Alexei managed to eradicate the lack and reach a serious level of play.

As part of the SKA youth team, Alexey Kasatonov became the champion of the Soviet Union, was involved in the USSR youth team. He played 42 games for the main team, after which the young man was invited to CSKA personally by Viktor Tikhonov, the permanent coach of both the club and the national team. But even despite the coach's support, Alexei found a foothold in CSKA with difficulty - the competition was too high.

Only after hitting the top five of Igor Larionov, where Vyacheslav Fetisov became his partner in defense, Kasatonov revealed himself to the maximum. By the way, when a scandal broke out in the team at the end of the 80s related to the conflict between the coach and the players, Alexey became the only one who supported Tikhonov. Alexey moves to America and is a member of the New Jersey Devils, for which he had three excellent seasons. Later in the NHL, Kasatonov played for the Anaheim Ducks, St. Louis Blues and Boston Bruins. Interestingly, although Alexei played as a defender, once in his career there was a real scorer match: in a duel against the Finnish club "Tappara" the athlete scored four goals at once, which is quite a lot even for a striker.
