Sergey is an employee of the central civil defense bunker in Novosibirsk. It is at the workplace that a young man finds a nuclear explosion. The hero, along with a hundred other people, is trying to hide from the consequences of the explosion in the bunker. In a confined space, fear gradually gives way to growing conflicts. The novel drew positive reviews from the audience.

In 2010, the writer released his second book, Forty Days Later, which became a sequel to Black Day. In the new work, Alexei added a third to the two well-known storylines. Now the readers got the opportunity to follow the destinies of Alexander and Sergei, and also got acquainted with a new group of characters - "survivors". The writing received favorable reviews, but many noted that the first book was more powerful.
