Alexander Vasiliev was born in Leningrad on July 15, 1969. The fourth member of the team was Oleg Kuvaev, who in the future became the creator of the popular animated series "Masyanya". Vasiliev wrote songs for the group, and Morozov had musical equipment - a bass guitar, a microphone and a "Record" tape recorder.

In 1988, the young Mitra band tried to join a rock club, but they were not allowed there. During the selection, the group was "cut off" by one of the founders of "Aquarium" Anatoly Gunitsky. After the collapse of the collective, the singer went to the army for two years, where he served in the construction battalion. In the army, Alexander continued to write songs, later these compositions were included in the first album of the group - "Dusty Byl".

After returning from the army, Alexander entered LGITMiK at the Faculty of Economics, and after a while continued to immerse himself in the theatrical environment, getting a job as an assembler at the Buff Theater. At that time, his university friend and former member of the Mitra group, Alexander Morozov, already worked here. He introduced Vasiliev to the keyboard player, the young people gathered the group again and began working on the album.

Two years later, the first album titled "Dusty True" was ready. Young musicians threw a party on this occasion, during which they met Stas Berezovsky, who joined the group as a guitarist. In 2004, ten years after the release of the first album "Splina", Vasiliev released his solo album, which he called "Drafts".

Success came to Alexander Vasiliev and the Spleen group long before that - in the spring of 1998 after the release of the Pomegranate Album. At that time, a young St. Petersburg group, which had previously performed mainly in clubs, began to collect stadiums. "Spleen" became widely known in the rock environment and beyond, as the group "Mumiy Troll". When the famous British Rolling Stones came to Moscow with a concert, they chose Spleen to perform as an opening act.

Despite its growing popularity, in 2004 rumors began to spread that "Splin" was breaking up. Alexander Vasiliev that summer performed at rock festivals without a group, with only one flutist, and this fact spurred rumors even more. Vasiliev himself argued that speculation about the collapse of the team is not based on anything.

From 2005 to 2007, the group worked on the album "Split Personality". Work from time to time was interrupted by tours, Alexander Vasiliev gave concerts with the group in the USA. The line-up changed, guitarist Stas Berezovsky left "Spleen", the fans started talking about the breakup again, but the group did not split and continued its existence headed by the permanent leader.
