Biography
Alexander Loginov is the phoenix bird of the Russian biathlon. Neither the fans nor the SBR management have lost faith in the athlete who survived the disqualification and is still subjected to severe bullying. Moreover, now the coaching staff of the national team considers Loginov to be the only one who, in addition to marksmanship, is also able to run a distance from and to.
fact
Childhood and youth
The biathlon star flashed in Saratov in January 1992. As a child, Alexander did not dream of a career as an athlete, but he was fond of sports. I gave preference to karate, in winter I went skiing with my friends.
At the age of 13, a teenager, watching his sister Tatyana study, thought about biathlon seriously. Then he entered the Children's Youth School of the Olympic Reserve in his hometown, where he fell into the hands of the talented coach Ekaterina Nikolaevna Khaliullina. A year later, the guy was already proud of the results: having fulfilled the standards, he became a candidate for master of sports in biathlon and cross-country skiing.
From that moment on, Loginov's sports biography is rapidly gaining momentum. Prizes from regional and all-Russian competitions appear in the list of the young biathlete's achievements. Saratovtsa was noticed by the coaches of the main team.
Loginov calls his idol the Norwegian biathlon star Ole Einar Bjoerndalen. Sasha was rooting for him as a child, catching himself wanting to be like a legend. Like most of his colleagues, he thought about a second profession, not related to sports, and became a student in the management department of a local agricultural university.
fact
Personal life
Both Loginov's wives understood her husband perfectly, since he found happiness in his personal life on the track. Margarita Yarostova and Maria Kruchova are biathletes.
Alexander met the first on the rise of his career. Yarostova is 3 years younger, a master of sports, originally from Balakovo, also studied at the Saratov Agrarian University. On her account - a victory in the junior national championship in summer biathlon, two bronze medals at the European cross-country championship.
After several years, the novel culminated in a trip to the registry office. At that time, Rita turned 19, and Sasha - 22. The wedding took place in the summer of 2014 in Saratov, surrounded by 80 relatives and friends. For the sake of such an event, Loginov was given a week off, after which they waited in Novosibirsk, where the shooting camp took place.
For this reason, the team did not come to the celebration, it was represented by the senior coach of the Russian men's team, Alexander Kasperovich, and Ekaterina Khaliullina, the first mentor of Margarita and Alexander, was also present.

The marriage broke up in 2016. The divorce went without problems, since the couple did not have time to have children.
Loginov has long been known as almost the most closed athlete in Russia. The biathlete is reluctant to give interviews, especially after the finish, he is laconic at press conferences, there are no grandiose promises on Instagram, only words of gratitude under the photo in case of success. Therefore, fans had to guess when Alexander began a relationship with a new life partner. It was suggested that this happened in 2012.
Maria is a native of Ukraine, played for the youth team, in 2015 she won the sprint at the junior World Cup stage. She made her senior team debut in 2017 at the IBU Cup. In the 2018/2019 season, at the same tournament, the girl won bronze in the mixed relay.

In May 2019, Loginov and Kruchova officially became husband and wife, and after 5 months they also became the parents of their daughter. In Masha's homeland, in Ternopil, the lovers got married. The young mother does not plan to leave the sport, as the Ukrainian media wrote. And the Russian media raised the topic of the possibility of a shooting skier crossing under the white-blue-red flag.
During his rest hours, Alexander watches comedies by Leonid Gaidai and science fiction, and enjoys fishing. The athlete fell in love with fishing since childhood, when he was visiting his grandmother in the village of Bessonovka, Novouzensky District, Saratov Region. Carps, crucians, pikes and perches were found in the numerous ponds of the area.
The biathlete recalled that the first catch was successful: an 11-year-old boy pulled a 6-kilogram pike ashore. Now Loginov devotes less time to hobbies, but at the first opportunity he uses the moment.
fact
Biathlon
In 2010 Loginov played for the national team at the World Junior Championships in Sweden. For a beginner, the guy started off perfectly: in the personal race he became fourth and fifth, coming very close to the podium. The 18-year-old biathlete managed to win back in the relay, where he became the leader.
Soon Alexander is the king of the junior level. In 2011, in Czech Nove Mesto in personal races, the Russian took two third places, and was in the lead in the relay. In 2012 and 2013 he won individual races at the World Championships in Obertilliach, Austria and at two European Championships - in Osrblje, Slovakia and Bansko, Bulgaria.
Half of the 18 medals won - this is the result of six tournaments in which Alexander Loginov participated. The biathlete surprisingly quickly (for a junior) showed himself in the senior team.
The successes of the compatriot did not fail to note the Saratov authorities and presented the Pyotr Stolypin prize "For outstanding achievements in the field of physical culture and sports."
In February 2013, at the World Cup in Holmenkollen, Norway, Loginov became the best among Russian colleagues, taking 5th place in the sprint race. A day later, in the pursuit race, Alexander won 3rd place. In March of the same year, the athlete took the 4th step in the 18 km mega-mass start, and won bronze in the 12.5 km pursuit.
Soon, the athlete from Samara was included in the relay at the Sochi Olympics, where, thanks to Alexander Loginov, the Russian quartet of biathletes won. Towards the end of 2013, the athlete, together with Ivan Tcherezov, Evgeny Garanichev and Anton Shipulin, took the lead in the relay at the 3rd stage of the French World Cup in Annecy.

The year 2014 was also generous with success. Alexander Loginov won 2nd place at the 8th stage in Kontiolahti (Finland). This was the best result of an athlete in the personal races of the World Cup. And in March of the same year, he repeated the result, taking the 2nd step in the pursuit.
Soon Loginov, who claimed that in the Russian championship he would only play for the Saratov region, moved to Tyumen. He was provided with exceptional conditions - the base of the "Pearl of Siberia" sports complex, one of the best in the world. And in his hometown, a guy with a height of 177 cm had to "combine" with a tiny dressing room measuring 2 x 2 meters.
However, the adult career, started so successfully, was interrupted on takeoff. According to the results of a doping test made on November 26, 2013, Alexander Loginov was suspended from competitions and training in November 2014. The athlete was disqualified until November 2016.
The International Biathlon Union found a prohibited drug in Alexander's sample - erythropoietin. Loginov's sports results from the moment the sample was taken were invalidated.
In November 2016, the period of disqualification of Alexander Loginov ended, and the biathlete began training and competitions with increased zeal. The following year, at the January European Championships in the Polish city of Duszniki Zdroj, he won the individual race and the pursuit race, and received a silver medal in the sprint race. In the mixed relay, Loginov won gold.
Another award was awaiting the athlete at the Biathlon World Championship in Hochfilzen, Austria. At the stage of the mixed relay, the biathlete as part of the Russian team, which also included Olga Podchufarova, Tatyana Akimova and Anton Shipulin, won the bronze medal.
2018 began unsuccessfully for Loginov. Alexander has been repeatedly criticized by Martin Fourcade, who posted video messages on social networks to his Russian colleague about his disqualification due to a history of doping.
For the same reason, the athlete was not allowed to participate in the Winter Olympics. Then, not having time to resolve the issues with the Schengen visa in time, he missed the stages of the World Cup, which were held in Finland and Norway.

For the first time in the 2018/2019 season, a biathlete managed to get on the international circuit only in December. Loginov's performance cheered the fans of the Russian biathlon. He finished two third in the sprint and pursuit at the Pokljuka World Cup. Moreover, in the second competition, Alexander was the first, and only an accidental fall caused by the careless movement of the stick influenced the result. Gold at this stage went to the Norwegian competitor Johannes Boe.
At the same distances, but already in Nove Mesto, Loginov reached the 2nd step of the podium. And at the stage in Oberhof he recorded the highest awards in his asset - in the 10 km race and in the relay. Luck was on the side of Alexander and in the Canadian Canmore: he hung on his chest the bronze medals, earned in the individual and relay races. The biathlete brought silver and bronze from Sweden.
In March 2019 Loginov became the triumph of the Russian Championship. He put into his piggy bank the gold won in the 12.5 km pursuit, silver for the 10 km sprint and bronze for the mass start.
Alexander started the World Cup of the 2019/2020 season relatively smoothly. Three times he stopped one step away from the victorious platform, until he won bronze from Matvey Eliseev at the Austrian stage. Johannes Boe again took the top step. Loginov lost 33 seconds to him at the pursuit distance and was content with a silver medal.
At the stage in France, the Russian team did not even make it into the top ten. Hope for the podium loomed in the German Oberhof and Ruhpolding, but never came true. Nevertheless, head coach Anatoly Khovantsev said that the 4th and 5th places are also a good result.
Sports commentators and fans of the Russian biathlon predicted Loginov's place as a leader in the national team in the light of the end of his career by Anton Shipulin. The athlete's falls and misses were attributed to his excessive diligence.
fact
Alexander Loginov now
For the same Shipulin, Alexander's victory in the sprint at the World Cup in February 2020 was a surprise. Although now the State Duma deputy believes that this is natural: Loginov is calm, psychologically stable, he has developed immunity against the harassment that unfolded in the press and among the biathletes themselves.
The gold won by the athlete in Antholz is the first for the national team since 2008. Alexander also added bronze in the pursuit race. Only compatriots and the Russian Biathlon Union rejoiced in success. Foreign journalists, who were not even present at the tournament, and rivals tried to stab Loginov more painfully, recalling past doping scandals.
It is understandable why he refused to talk to the press in the mixed zone. But when the time came, he wittily besieged the representatives of the Norwegian media, who asked how “clean” the athlete was.
Unfortunately, Russian TV viewers were not shown footage of how Fourcade, who was considered almost the leader of Loginov's cyberbullying, shook his hand at the awards ceremony. Johannes and Tarja Boe, who at first said that Alexander was not worthy of victory, had to change their rhetoric. But, perhaps, it was not an objective fact that forced the brothers, but angry comments from Russian Instagram subscribers.
