Biography
It was at Florida State University that Alan Ball made his debut when he graduated from theater, with a clear preference for writing. A move to New York allowed him to start his career as artistic director for various pieces. He got his start writing theatrical comedies: Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, Made for a Woman, Bachelor Holiday and many others.
His move to Hollywood marked the start of his career as a screenwriter and producer. He works on the series Cybill, Grace Under Fire and Father despite everything, but it is thanks to cinema that he manages to make a name for himself in the industry. In 1999, he received, among others, the
Crowned with the success of American Beauty, Alan Ball then devoted himself to his series Six Feet Under, launched in 2001 on HBO, the cable channel which does not hesitate to broadcast slightly offbeat productions. Achieving great public and critical success, the adventures of the Fisher family earned him two Golden Globes and six Emmy Awards, including Best Pilot for a Drama Series, marking his directorial debut.
