Abdusalam Gadisov is a Russian freestyle wrestler, four-time champion of Russia, two-time European champion, world champion. He performed in the category up to 97 kg. In 2015, he became the Honored Master of Sports of Russia.

Gadisov was born and raised in Makhachkala, an Avar by nationality. Mom worked as a kindergarten teacher, father - as a civil servant. Abdusalam has an older brother, also a former athlete.

But at the first lesson Abdusalam expected a curiosity. Accustomed to doing martial arts wushu in a kimono and barefoot, the teenager came to freestyle wrestling in the same form. The coach, seeing such an outfit, ordered to wear at least socks. And the 11-year-old boy spent the entire training session in his father's huge socks.

Later, to gain weight, Abdusalam Gadisov began to regularly visit the gym, in which he rocked with a fury. But he quickly realized that on the wrestling mat, technical training is much more important than muscle mass or even strength. Simulators have faded into the background.

In general, in youth competitions, the athlete did not have enough stars from the sky. Of course, the guy was worried, but the trainers Imanmurza Aliyev and Gaidar Gaidarov reassured him that if he did not give up and continued to give all the best as before, the results would come. He graduated from the Makhachkala branch of the Rostov State University of Economics, becoming a certified financier and economist.

It was also associated with weight-lifting - the body quickly dehydrated, which made the skin too thin. He got rid of these problems after he moved to the weight category up to 97 kg in 2011.

The victories in the competitions went on an increasing line. The championship of Russia was submitted to the Makhachkala wrestler four more times. He also became the best in the Ramzan Kadyrov and Ivan Yarygin Cups. The guy did not lag behind in the international arena. Twice Abdusalam Gadisov left undefeated from the European Championships and once climbed to the highest step of the podium at the 2010 World Cup and 2014 World Championship.

At the 2012 Olympics in London, Abdusalam took only 9th place, but in this case, one can complain about the tournament grid, which at an early stage brought the young wrestler together with the world's strongest athlete, Iranian Reze Yazdani.

Of course, this is not the only defeat of the athlete. In 2015, at the World Championships, which was held in Las Vegas, Gadisov sensationally lost to 18-year-old debutant Kyle Snyder.
