Biography
Abbie Cornish began a modeling career at age 13. Very quickly, she was noticed by Australian television and obtained at the age of fifteen a recurring role in the series Wildside then Outriders . It was also in her native Australia that she had her first roles in the cinema, notably in Cercle intime (2000) and especially Somersault (2004) and Candy (2006) of which she played the leading roles (respectively alongside Sam Worthington and Heath Ledger).
In 2006, Abbie Cornish reached a milestone by playing under the direction of Ridley Scott in A Great Year, which saw her give the answer to Russell Crowe. She then appears in the casting of Elizabeth: the golden age. But it was in 2009 that she became known to the general public by starring in Bright Star by Jane Campion, presented at the Cannes Film Festival. In this historical drama, she lives a passionate love affair with the British poet John Keats.
She then takes the opposite view of this delicate role by chaining two collaborations with the young and talented Zack Snyder, by first lending her voice to a surly owl in The Kingdom of Ga'Hoole (2010), before camping one the " hit girls»Sexy from the supercharged Sucker Punch in 2011. Woman of RoboCop in the remake of the cult film by Paul Verhoeven, the beautiful Australian also takes part in two thrillers: Premonitions and Lavender. In 2017, she rubbed shoulders with Jamie Bell and Mark Strong in 6 Days, a film based on the hostage-taking at the Iranian Embassy in London in 1980. She then remained in the terrorist theme via the Jack Ryan series produced by Michael Bay and worn by John Krasinski in the title role.
